With the imminent release of Metaphor: ReFantazio, many fans are still unclear about the differences between this saga and the previous one conceived by the same director. The creator of Persona and this new franchise, set to launch in the coming months, is Katsura Hashino.
In a recent interview, this director explained why this new saga is entirely different and highlighted the main differences from the other popular Atlus franchise. He mentioned how the relationships between characters will aim in another direction.
Metaphor: ReFantazio and Persona Are Very Different, Clarifies Its Director
Having originated as a spin-off of the Megami Tensei saga, the Persona games became so successful that they even surpassed the numbers and quality of the original titles that inspired this franchise.
Persona 5 was considered by many to be one of the best games of recent years. Atlus has had a string of successful titles with many units sold, and now it is about to launch a new franchise from the same creator.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is the new saga directed by Katsura Hashino, and it will arrive in October on most platforms. In a recent interview, this director clarified the main differences from the other franchises he is known for.
Hashino talked about the romantic relationships that will not be part of this new saga; the protagonist will focus solely on strengthening friendships for the game’s benefit.
Katsura Hashino Demonstrates the Process of Crafting a Remarkable Franchise
In the early gameplay videos of this new title, many fans couldn’t help but notice the similarities with the Persona saga. Later, new gameplay and clips showed that the game would be different in several key aspects. Hashino stated that he typically includes teenage protagonists in his games, but in this instance, he will remove them to emphasize the primary goal of the narrative.
In Metaphor: ReFantazio, our protagonist’s primary goal is to fortify relationships in order to rescue his kingdom from an impending, unprecedented war. The setting alone greatly distances itself from other games by this director, who seeks to innovate in various aspects to create a new successful franchise. However, this game will have numerous similarities to the other franchise, as players can use a party to combat various enemies.
Studio Zero and Atlus will release this title for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC on October 11. The main goal of the game is to lift a curse with the help of your companions, which is causing your kingdom to ruin.
Thanks to awakening the power of your Archetype, you will be able to defeat all the enemies and try to save your kingdom from this dire situation. This game allows you to explore numerous places to discover new ways to save your kingdom.
