When it comes to DC’s Animated Universe, there are barely any shows and movies that don’t receive praise with My Adventures with Superman being no exception to this either. Every iteration of the scarlet caped hero has been driven by some criticism alongside acknowledgement. Whether it is with Henry Cavill, Tyler Hoechlin, or Tom Welling; each and every one of them have their fair share of pros and cons.

With the second season also in swing, there are many ways in which the show excels in representing the story of not just Superman and Lois but also Clark Kent and Lois. As of late, another character has joined the party and she holds an uncanny resemblance to a Dragon Ball character one cannot turn a blind eye to.

My Adventures with Superman Brings Forth Kara Zor-El

My Adventures with Superman does not shy away from taking inspiration, nor does it hide the fact that it is. This is one of the factors that makes the series even better than it already is. Taking inspiration from anime is something the Western media does not shy away from, however, there are times when they choose not to advertise that fact or implement it subtly. The DC animated show chooses to do otherwise.

Episode 15 of the series brings into the picture Kara Zor-El or Kara Kent. The promo of the episode suggested her to be ready to pick up a fight with a truck until Jimmy Olsen intervenes. Adding humor to the tone, Kara confuses him to be Earth’s leader instead of just a well-wisher.

It is not just her appearance in the show that is exciting to watch but also the fact that she has a striking resemblance to Akira Toriyama‘s one Dragon Ball character.

My Adventures with Superman‘s Dragon Ball Reference

Kara Zor-El’s debut is a big deal on its own, but what is fascinating about this is the fact that her look is interestingly similar to a Dragon Ball character, Android 18. From her hair to the attire she has adorned, everything seems to be a copy of the character to her finest details. So much so that her black jacket, white shirt, and even the logo on her chest seem similar.

Ever since Akira Toriyama’s unfortunate passing, many shows have taken it upon themselves to pay homage to his legacy in any way. From Solo Leveling to now My Adventures with Superman, everyone wishes to pay their respects to a series that impacted them so greatly.

Supergirl’s suit isn’t one that takes inspiration from the character but her more mundane outfit does. Some might think it to be similar while others would acknowledge it to be an exact copy of Android 18’s look.

My Adventures with Superman is available to watch on Max.
