Dwayne Johnson was the second-generation wrestler in the family after his father Rocky Johnson, who was a legend in WWE. Rocky had become the first Black man along with Tony Atlast to win a WWE championship back in 1993 and he also won the championship title at the NWA and the GCW promotions.

In 2020, Dwayne Johnson posted a tribute to his father, who had passed away, and spoke about the relationship he shared with his father. The actor expressed his respect and love for him as well as regretted not mending his relationship with him. He wrote on Instagram,

My regret in this life is that I never had a chance to say goodbye to him, because he died suddenly. I regret not reconciling our complicated father/son sh*t before I lost him. Raised me with tough fatherly love and an even tougher hand. The more I live life, the more grateful I am for it. See you down the road, Soulman.

The tribute video included Rocky Johnson’s legendary match with Tony Atlas in which he won the World Tag Team Championship. A young Dwayne Johnson can be seen in the audience.
