Leslye Headland created The Acolyte a series set during the High Republic era of the Star Wars universe. It follows the story of two twins who get embroiled in a mysterious plot to assassinate a group of Jedi. Since the series takes place roughly a hundred years before the prequel trilogy, fans have been wondering about what characters will feature in it.
During an interview, Headland was asked whether the series would feature a certain green Jedi Master. However, Headland gave a very clear and definitive answer about the possibility of Master Yoda appearing in the series. At the same time, Headland also shed some light on some of the newer Jedi characters introduced to the franchise in The Acolyte.
Leslye Headland Reveals If Yoda Will Be Appearing in Star Wars: The Acolyte
The Acolyte created by Leslye Headland is a mystery-thriller series that recently made its debut on Disney+. Ahead of the show’s premiere, Headland sat down for a conversation with ComicBook.com, where she discussed various aspects of the High Republic era, the story’s primary setting.
During the interview, Headland was asked whether Master Yoda would appear in the live-action series. Since Yoda was approximately over 700 years old during the events of the series, it is possible that the Jedi Master might make a quick cameo.
Can you imagine if they were like no problem you can use Yoda. Not a big deal. Go for it. No there is not.
Headland made the above statement squashing the possibility of a Yoda cameo in the series.
The creator’s words strongly implied that using a character like Yoda required clearance from Lucasfilm’s top brass. Therefore, Headland seemingly hinted that she was not allowed to use the popular Jedi Master in the series despite Yoda being active when the story is set.
Leslye Headland Talks Her Favorite Characters in Star Wars: The Acolyte
During the same interview, Headland revealed that The Acolyte would not be featuring any major characters from pre-existing canon material outside of the High Republic multi-media project and the Expanded Universe stories, which is no longer considered canon after Disney acquired Lucasfilm.
We are pulling characters from the High Republic and characters from EU but that’s it.
Headland made the above statement explaining what characters fans can expect to feature in the series.
So far, Vernestra Rwoh is the only character from previously existing Star Wars media to appear in the series. In a separate interview, Headland also spoke about crafting an entirely new batch of characters for the series.
At the same time, Headland revealed that the aliens were among her favorite characters to bring to life in the series. She named Dafne Keen’s Jecki Lon, Rebecca Henderson’s Vernestra Rwoh, and Joonas Suotamo’s Kelnacca as her favorites. The series premiered with two episodes released on June 4, 2024, with the rest dropping weekly.
The Acolyte is streaming on Disney+.
