The X-Men is one of the biggest franchises ever, and for a long time, they have been a fan-favorite mutant group featuring Professor X and his gifted children, with several popular films and comic books that add to its popularity. While the mutant franchise is known for showcasing high-octane battles with a gripping storyline; they are equally proficient in presenting emotionally affecting sagas that would move one to tears.

Fans know that mutants are like a disease because it’s genetic and often referred to that way by human beings. However, in one of the mutant sagas, a heart-aching tale was showcased, where mutants are made in a secret facility, and a cure could turn them back to normal.

Well, a new fan theory is circulating the internet that Season 4 of Erick Kripke’s The Boys might follow something similar, which could be catastrophic to Vought’s Supes.

Below contains spoiler for The Boys

X-Men Tale That Foreshadows The End of Supes in The Boys

Eric Kripke’s The Boys is notorious for taking a satirical approach to the superhero genre, mocking traditional superhero conventions. The show depicts superheroes as flawed and corrupted individuals created by Vought International.

Though it was initially believed that Vought hired the most gifted superheroes, as the premise developed, it made its audience gasp out loud. In season 2 of The Boys, Giancarlo Esposito’s Stan Edgar told how Antony Starr’s Homelander is a bad product.

Later, fans learned that the Supes are manufactured in bulk using Vought’s Compound V, a powerful and secret serum that grants superhero powers to ordinary individuals.

As a result, the inspirational process of being a superhero just downgraded to mere bioengineering. With season 4 released, a new fan theory has also surfaced that can be a major threat to the Supes, and might be inspired by a tragic saga from the X-Men.

r/TheBoys is a subreddit dedicated to everything and anything that takes place in the show. A fan (Like_Totally_Chilly) commented on a thread stating that there was a speech in the 2nd season, where Stan Edgar described Homelander as nothing but a “bad product.”

Though that felt irrelevant back then, they pointed out that there was a similar storyline in the Ultimate Universe X-Men comic book, where it was mentioned that mutants are also made artificially. Hence, the government basically forces the mutants to take thecureto be reintegrated back into society.”

They referred to this action as tragic because in the series it is considered to be a form of assimilation and even genocide.Since Kripke’s show is more on the darker side, it can be believed that a virus designed specifically for the Supes could be the only solution to get rid of them. As a result, the show might come to an end with season 5, just like Kripke had promised his fans.

Gen V Virus Could Be The End To All Supes

Even though it is not completely necessary for the fans of The Boys to watch the spin-off series, Gen V, it turns out both shows are interconnected. The show is set after the events of the 3rd season of the R-rated show.

The spinoff show gives a full backstory on the deadliest thing that Vought has ever created, after Compound V. At the end of the show, Claudia Doumit’s Victoria Neuman got her hands on a supervirus developed by Dr. Cardossa, which targets only the Supes.

The virus would cause flu-like symptoms that would escalate to intense pain, pus-filled sacs growing all over the body of the Supe, and internal bleeding, leading to their eventual death.

Though it sounds mortifying, the virus will take care of the problem because Billy Butcher and his ragtag team are going to do everything in their capability to take down Vought and Homelander. The supervirus might have its limitations, and there is no proof that it can take down a high-level Supe like Homelander.

Nevertheless, the virus is a game-changer because it could potentially kill Victoria Neuman and be the silver bullet for many of Vought’s problems. While the virus is with Neuman as of now, if Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher manages to get his hands on the it, then it’s game over for Vought and its corrupt heroes.
