One Piece has finally featured one of the most awaited rematches in the anime. After more than 700 episodes later, Monkey D. Luffy exchanged blows with his former nemesis, Rob Lucci. Previously, he was the leader of CP-9, but currently, he has been promoted to CP-0. The Egghead Island arc featured both of them in their awakened form and gifting the fans another great moment.
After Luffy transformed into Gear 5 and hit Rob Lucci, the latter wasted no time showcasing his awakened form. Even though both have awakened their Devil Fruit, there seems to be a disparity between the two, which proves Luffy’s Devil Fruit to be unique. He is the only Zoan-type user who has this ability, and not even the Gorosei has shown the unique ability.
Monkey D. Luffy’s Devil Fruit Is Uniquely Different
There are several Zoan-type Devil Fruit users in One Piece. Devil Fruits are believed to have a mind of their own, and if the user gains absolute control over it and does not lose consciousness, it is said to be Devil Fruit Awakening. Devil Fruit Awakening gives the users a massive boost in their physical prowess, especially for the Zoan-type users, apart from several other abilities. One way to identify an awakened Devil Fruit is by a string of flame-like clouds behind the user’s Zoan form.
Monkey D. Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, is different from other Zoan-type Devil Fruits. While all the Zoan-type Devil Fruit awakenings have black flame clouds, Luffy seems to have a white one. In the manga, the Gorosei and Kaku of CP-0 also have the black one. It might be because Luffy’s power is unique and signifies something greater. Monkey D. Luffy bears the ‘D’ in his name. There was a popular theory surrounding the ‘D clan.’
The D clan is believed to have been divided into two, with one half signifying dawn and the other half signifying dusk. In Luffy’s case, he seems to be the ‘dawn-bringer.’ Even in his awakened form, Rob Lucci is barely able to keep up with Luffy. Eiichiro Oda gives a subtle hint that makes the protagonist unique and different from the rest of the characters.
Monkey D. Luffy Is Yet To Find The One Piece
Monkey D. Luffy has unlocked Gear 5, which brings out the true nature of his Devil Fruit abilities. Even though it was enough to defeat Rob Lucci pretty easily, it might come a bit short when facing the Gorosei all at once. He might need a bit more than Gear 5. Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika bears the name of a God and is bound to give mighty powers, but Gorosei is on a different level.
The Straw Hats might be pretty close to the One Piece with three out of four Road Poneglyphs in their possession. But ‘pretty close’ is not enough. Currently, the Straw Hat Captain is busy taking on the Gorosei all by himself after defeating Admiral Kizaru. So, there is a lot of storytelling left for Eiichiro Oda. Moreover, Blackbeard, Shanks, and the World Government have also started to approach the ultimate treasury.
It might not be a smooth journey for them after the Egghead Island. Monkey D. Luffy defeated Kaido using Gear 5 and is still getting accustomed to his newfound powers. It will be interesting to see how unique the powers of a God can be, especially when he is considered to be the Warrior of Liberation.
