Marvel Rivals has many players interested in it as the next Overwatch 2 killer. Surprisingly announced about three months ago, the comic book giants are dipping its toes into the hero shooter genre.

With Marvel’s sizable cast of characters and the MCU still reigning supreme in pop culture, why wasn’t a game like this done earlier?

The closed beta for PC and console is expected to happen next month on July 23rd and July 24th.

While some have already experienced the game from the Closed Alpha Test, many are still waiting to try it out.

Marvel Rivals – Closed Beta Test Next Month

Only two days in late July

The Closed Alpha Test lasted 10 days, from May 10th to May 20th. The test included 19 characters, three maps, and three game modes. This gave players enough time to try nearly everything out before the test ended.

For this Closed Beta, it will only be two days but it’s also available on console for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The two days are July 23rd and 24th, a Tuesday and Wednesday. Why the developers chose two weekdays instead of the weekend is unclear but if you happen to get into the Closed Beta, make sure to clear your schedule.

The late July dates gives players more time to plan ahead before deciding to jump ship from Overwatch 2

The game features well-known characters such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, and Black Panther. The Marvel Rivals beta will add two new characters, Adam Warlock and Venom.

In addition, there will also be a new map called Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands. Even if you’ve participated in the Closed Alpha, you can try out the new content in this upcoming beta.

During the Closed Alpha Test, there was a very low number of players who got into the test. Content creators could get in through the Creator Program if they were unsuccessful in the mass sign-up period.

With this Marvel Rivals beta test in July, let’s hope more players are able to try the game out for themselves. The game has great potential to become the next mainstream hero shooter, with Overwatch 2 slowly falling to the wayside.

Console beta sign up is available now with PC sign-ups happening on July 20th. Wishlisting the game on Steam will send you updates whenever the developers have new information to share, including beta details.

These alpha/beta tests are to not only measure balancing between the characters but also how much stress the servers can take. Only time will tell if these tests were worth it whenever Marvel Rivals fully releases.
