One Piece fans recently got to witness one of the biggest fights in the Egghead Island arc between Monkey D. Luffy and Rob Lucci. The two characters have fought in the past and fans were excited to see them exchanging blows once again.
The fight was finally adapted for the anime series with episode 1100 and it was everything that fans expected. However, the fans of Naruto’s spin-off sequel series Boruto were not too happy about the Luffy vs. Lucci fight. They majorly believed that the animation and the editing of the battle were subpar and could not be compared to other One Piece fights.
While the Boruto fanbase criticized the fight for having a low frame rate, One Piece fans soon came to defend their favorite series and humbled Boruto fans in an online discourse on X(Formerly Twitter). They even brought up the famous Naruto vs. Pain fight in the discussion.
One Piece Anime Finally Adapts Luffy vs Lucci Rematch
One Piece episode 1100 titled “Powers on a Different Level!” Luffy vs. Lucci!” showcased one of the greatest One Piece anime episodes ever, which debuted on Sunday, April 7, 2024. It included the rematch between Luffy and Lucci, one of the most significant events from the Egghead Island arc.
Luffy and Lucci have had a distinctive past and their previous battle is also considered one of the greatest achievements for Luffy. It is during that battle, that Luffy learned the Gear 2 and Gear 3 techniques. However, compared to their previous fight, the battle in Egghead Island was at an entirely different level.
As the series has adopted a new style of animation since the beginning of the finale saga, fans expected the fight to be great and it lived up to the expectations. Not only that, the One Piece anime series added its own twist and expanded the fight for the entertainment of One Piece fans. The fight has increased the level of excitement for the upcoming events in Eiichiro Oda’s series.
Boruto Fans Get Humbled by One Piece Fans
While One Piece fans greatly appreciated the fight, Boruto fans on the other hand felt that the frame rate and the animation of the fight was one of the worst in One Piece history. They went on to X(Formerly Twitter) to criticize the battle.
X user @mdbgohan even stated that the fight was just a slideshow and not an animation. This tweet instantly went viral and led to a heated discussion among One Piece and Boruto fans.
Some users compared the fight with Naruto and Isshiki’s fight in Boruto and called it a better-animated fight than Lucci vs Luffy’s rematch. However, One Piece fans were quick to humble Boruto fans as they pointed out one of the worst animated fights in the anime world: Naruto vs Pain.

Although Boruto fans did not like the animation of Luffy vs Lucci’s rematch, the general opinion among anime fans is that the fight was one of the biggest battles in the One Piece universe and the new style of animation made it even better as compared to the previous fights.
