Life has not been kind to Kevin Feige for the past few years. The Marvel supremo has had to face a lot of headaches ever since Avengers: Endgame, arguably the peak of the MCU, hit the theatres in 2019.
Since those days of glory, it’s been the same tale of woes over and over again – stories that have been unable to hit as hard as the ones in the Infinity Saga, and characters that have failed to resonate with the masses. The latter is indeed a long list, including the likes of She Hulk and Miss Marvel.
But one fact that encapsulates how the MCU has failed to hit home is how even the older characters have failed to recreate the impact they were expected to.
Anthony Mackie has big shoes to fill
Technically Anthony Mackie’s Falcon is not a newcomer to the MCU. The 8 Mile star has been associated with franchise from the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, taking his experience in the MCU to almost a decade and 6 movies and a show. But what about Anthony Mackie’s Captain America?
That character is a complete stranger to everyone, especially the diehard fans of Chris Evans’ iteration of Steve Rogers. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier might have rung in the start of a new era, but the people at the helm of Marvel are slowly learning that it was simply not in their best interests, after all. And the question marks show no sign of letting up anytime soon.
Fans get to see a glimpse of Captain America: Brave New World
Fans would get their first peak into Captain America: Brave New World at the Comic Con, even though all they got was a glimpse. And that was enough for them to judge the upcoming movie. The project will explore how Mackie’s Captain America interacts with the POTUS, Thunderbolt Ross.
In a still, fans get a glimpse at this duo in conversation. But one thing that drew everyone’s attention more than this new dynamic was Captain America’s new suit. And they weren’t delighted, to say the least.

Well, these are still early days for getting the judgment out on the suit, and the new Captain America as well. Only time will tell if Mackie can fill the humongous shoes he’s stepped into, and garner the kind of love the OG did.
