Disgust is just one of the few words that comes across the mind when a player is witnessing certain elements of a game made by Hidetaka Miyazaki. While the renowned director is known for creating elegantly woven storylines for his games such as Elden Ring, there is a fan theory that haunts the dream of many players and will continue to do so till he finally decides to reveal the truth.
Out of the many enemies, it is the Grafted Scion that players get to fight when they first begin their playthrough. However, their origins were never clearly explained to the player, and speculation about where they might originate from is one of the most nerve-wracking things ever.
What Are The Origins Of The Grafted Scions In Elden Ring
There is an extensive history suggested through the hints given in the game in contrast to what is shown on the surface about the Grafted Scions. At first glance, the enemy looks like a big ball of mass that is forced together, but upon a closer look, one comes to a horrifying realization of how it is actually a single child-like entity with many limbs grafted to it, hence explaining the name.
Another instance of grafting in the game is observed with none other than Godrick the Grafted, one of the demigod bosses in the game and a shardbearer. Following the close resemblance, many theories have come up stating how Scions are closely related to this demigod, and can even be the offspring of him due to the striking similarities between the two.
It is also easy to observe how a lot of details have been put in to make sure the similarities between the demigod and his speculated offspring are noted by the player, including how the head crown as well as the cloak worn by the two are nearly identical.
What Is Hidetaka Miyazaki Hiding From The Fans Of Elden Ring
Diving deeper into the lore written brilliantly by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the player can find how it was followers of Rodrika who once made their way to The Lands Between, but unfortunately had their limbs removed and attached to the young children of Godrick the Grafted, possibly as an attempt to strengthen his lineage, becoming the Grafted Scions as we know them today.
As noted by this YouTuber, the Golden Lineage in Elden Ring also sought after purpose and power, which is why it is believed the Scions might be the young children of the said demigod, and can very well be an experiment done before Godrick applied the principles of Grafting to himself. Unfortunately, everything remains speculation for now and will stay the same until the director decides to finally give us the answers we are looking for in the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
Elden Ring is available to purchase on Steam.
