In a recent interview with Collider at Fan Expo, Dallas Howard reportedly expressed her desire to have her own Star Wars film or a TV show. Talking about her style of working on set, she reportedly said,

I sometimes characterize myself in a professional sense as a dominant-submissive. What that means is that I’m very happy to go and play in someone else’s sandbox and be part of a team and to kind of be a vessel for someone else’s vision and try to kind of execute their vision with great enthusiasm as if it was my own.

And then I also really love to work with a team and be kind of team captain. I enjoy that, I have strength in that area. I love filmmaking. I love directing. And so, I would absolutely love to direct a Star Wars film. I would absolutely love to have a Star Wars show.

Bryce Dallas Howard Believes Taking On A Star Wars Project Requires Courage

Things are not good at the Star Wars tent this year as the fans seem to have a huge problem with The Acolyte. While many have accused the traditionalist fans of review bombing the show, the fans themselves justify the bad reviews with the shoddy writing and disregard for canon by the show. The critics, however, seem to give the show great ratings.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy recently accused some fans of being misogynistic and not giving new shows by female creators a chance, which further angered fans (via NY Times). At such an intense juncture, Bryce Dallas Howard stated that it took a lot of courage to helm a Star Wars project and that she admired everyone who had dabbled in it. She said,

What that takes, I’ve now seen it up close and personal. It takes remarkable courage, it takes incredible mastery, a lot of humility, and the ability to listen, to pivot, and I have so much admiration for the folks who are doing that.

And so, if I was ever to be brought the opportunity, I would absolutely jump at it. But I’m incredibly, incredibly, incredibly proud and impressed with everyone who’s currently doing that in the Star Wars universe.

Dallas Howard also mentioned how creators Jon Watts, Dave Filoni, and Jon Favreau had handled their Star Wars series with utmost respect to not just the lore but also the filmmaking practices that made the franchise legendary.
