Eiichiro Oda’s Intense Work Pattern

In 2019, a famous Japanese comedian visited Oda’s studio for a Japanese TV show and got a chance to interact with the manga creator and ask him about his work schedule. Oda’s work pattern was shared by @sandman_AP on X where Oda explained that he goes to bed at 9 a.m. and wakes up at 12 p.m., which means that the manga creator only gets three hours of sleep daily.

The mangaka even gave details about his assistants, who sleep from 5 in the morning until 12. Oda further revealed that he often skips meals for a few days to concentrate on his work, which is quite unhealthy for his hectic work schedule. He even suffers from moderate diabetes and gout from spending too much time in a chair.

His intense work pattern is incredibly harmful, and although it was a few years ago, there is a chance that this schedule may have even gotten worse as the intensity of One Piece has increased because of the beginning of the finale saga.

Oda has been working for a long time and he has achieved the result for it in the form of success that One Piece has earned over the past years. Now the mangaka needs to slow down and focus more on his health rather than still going hellbent on making One Piece one of the best manga series of all time.
