While One Piece fans have been enjoying the series for almost 30 years, the one thing that they don’t know is the struggle and suffering that Eiichiro Oda goes through in making a single chapter. The mangaka has been working on the series for so long that it has affected his health and his personal life.

He is the only mangaka who has taken the least amount of hiatus, and most of them have been recently. He is fully devoted to One Piece and to entertaining his fanbase. So much so that the manga creator has no time for his health or sleep. Because of his work, Oda has been suffering from a few chronic diseases, and his sleep schedule is the worst.
Not only that, the mangaka doesn’t even have time to eat his meals. Whether it is the stress of the next storyline or the excitement of a new character, Oda is always occupied with One Piece, and his horrid routine has fans concerned about the manga creator’s declining health.
Eiichiro Oda’s Intense Work Pattern
In 2019, a famous Japanese comedian visited Oda’s studio for a Japanese TV show and got a chance to interact with the manga creator and ask him about his work schedule. Oda’s work pattern was shared by @sandman_AP on X where Oda explained that he goes to bed at 9 a.m. and wakes up at 12 p.m., which means that the manga creator only gets three hours of sleep daily.
The mangaka even gave details about his assistants, who sleep from 5 in the morning until 12. Oda further revealed that he often skips meals for a few days to concentrate on his work, which is quite unhealthy for his hectic work schedule. He even suffers from moderate diabetes and gout from spending too much time in a chair.

His intense work pattern is incredibly harmful, and although it was a few years ago, there is a chance that this schedule may have even gotten worse as the intensity of One Piece has increased because of the beginning of the finale saga.
One Piece Fans Are Worried About Eiichiro Oda
Eiichiro Oda’s hectic work schedule is quite dangerous for his health, and he might have even started feeling the effects of it on his body. This can be one of the reasons why Oda has recently started taking hiatus and releasing incomplete chapters. Thus, it is not good for One Piece or the manga creator.

When One Piece fans got to know about Oda’s work pattern, they got extremely worried for the manga creator and expressed their concern for X.
While some fans asked Oda to take it easy, others prayed for his health and were willing to wait longer for the One Piece story as long as the mangaka took care of himself.
He's willing to die for One Piece…commendable but at the same time somebody gotta tell him to relax fr

I hope he takes vacation to spend little time with Inaki Godoy and LA Straw Hat crew to take a break from his desk after 25 years and big arcs like Dressrosa, Whole Cake Island and Wano arc.

Oda has been working for a long time and he has achieved the result for it in the form of success that One Piece has earned over the past years. Now the mangaka needs to slow down and focus more on his health rather than still going hellbent on making One Piece one of the best manga series of all time.
