Jaylen Brown, one of the mainstays of the Boston Celtics, discovered an enchanting way to fly into the NBA (National Basketball Association) Finals: binge-watching the Harry Potter film series during a 10-day break. That being said, have you ever thought that the magic of the big screen could cast a charm on his pre-game prep?
Well, while fellow players might have spent idle days with family & friends, Brown, self-professedly single, dedicated over 19 hours to the wizarding world, perhaps finding parallels between the on-screen heroics & his own athletic conquests.Â

More surprisingly, Brown is more enamored with Dumbledore and diligent Hermione than he is with Harry Potter. Sorry, Daniel Radcliffe, but the aforementioned two characters are rising to the top of his list of favorites.
From the Basketball Court to Hogwarts: Jaylen Brownâs Favorite Harry Potter CharacterÂ
The names of Jaylen Brownâs two favorite Harry Potter characters have recently been revealed, but sorry, none of them include Daniel Radcliffeâs titular role. After binge-watching all eight films in the iconic series during the 10-day gap between the Eastern Conference finals and the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics star, 27, revealed that Harry Potter himself did not make the cut for his top two favorite characters.
During an interview with Good Morning America, he explained how he spent his free time watching the magical adventures of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the rest of the Hogwarts gang. As a single player without family obligations during the break, Brown found solace in immersing himself in the wizarding world:
A lot of our guys probably spend time with their family and stuff like that, but I donât have a family. Iâm single. So Iâve been binge-watching Harry Potter.

The Harry Potter film series consists of eight films, each lasting more than two hours. When asked which character from the acclaimed series he identifies with the most, Brown responded with Dumbledore and Hermoine. To quote him:
I’m a huge fan of DumbledoreâŠand [Hermoine is] also the one that just keeps everybody on track. Sheâs the one that gets stuff done. Thatâs me. Like, âWe gotta get this done.â Iâm not waiting âtil the last minute. You got an assignment? We gonna get it done first day. We not gonna wait âtil the last minute.
With each film in the series clocking in at over two hours in length, watching all eight movies would take over 19 hours. But for Brown, it was time well spent as it prepped him mentally for the challenges that lay ahead in the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks.
That being said, he is not the only NBA star who is fond of the Harry Potter series.
Stephen Curry Also Has A Strong Affection For Harry PotterÂ
Renowned for his remarkable shooting prowess and his role as point guard for the NBAâs Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry previously revealed a surprising confession in a candid chat with PEOPLE. Last year, he shared a lot about his deep-seated love for J. K. Rowlingâs book series.

The Golden State Warriors star, 36, could not weigh in on the never-ending argument over whether it is preferable to read the Harry Potter books or watch the movies. But he did add:
I’ve read all of the Harry Potter books. I didn’t get to see the movies, though.
Yes, Curry claimed to have read âevery single one ofâ the books set in the world of witchcraft and wizardry. However, he has not had a chance to watch any of the movies. With a laugh, he continued:
I know it’s blasphemous, but yes, that’s where I’m at. I guess I’ve just got to have a little movie marathon.
With a competitive spirit and a laugh that lights up the court, Curry proves that even a four-time NBA champion must set aside time for a long-overdue Harry Potter movie marathon. On the other hand, Harry Potter may not have been Jaylen Brownâs favorite character, but the lessons learned from Dumbledore & Hermione may just be what he needs to lead the Boston Celtics to victory.Â
Harry Potter films are available on Max.
