Star Wars Outlaws ‘Immersive’ Landing Sequence is No Better than Starfield’s Loading Screens, In Fact, It’s Worse

The studio could have done a better job if they wanted to sell this feature.

Star Wars Outlaws and Starfield

SUMMARY

  • The no-loading screen feature of Star Wars Outlaws might not be as beneficial as it seems and could even be worse than expected.
  • Some fans compared this to Starfield and realized that it takes longer to enter a planet in Outlaws than it does to load in Bethesda's title.

Following the latest gameplay showing that there would be no loading screens when entering a planet, fans of Starfield quickly made comparisons. It turns out that entering a planet takes longer in this new Ubisoft game.

To the surprise of many fans, Ubisoft’s new open-world game, Star Wars Outlaws, looks very promising. This title allows us to embody the thief, Kay Vess. You can be part of any known thief faction in the galaxy and achieve certain goals thanks to the advantages these allies provide.

Additionally, the game will include extensive exploration across various planets, all for your own benefit. This will also allow us to get rid of certain enemies. Ubisoft Forward recently showcased new gameplay in the game, revealing that players could enter each planet “without loading screens.”

This was surprising to many, but after the excitement died down, many users on X and other social media analyzed the lack of loading screens.

According to several analyses, not everything is as it seems, and the game takes longer than it should to enter each planet.

Even Games Like Starfield Load Faster

In Ubisoft’s game, an X user timed the protagonist’s ship and discovered that it took 18 seconds longer to complete the planet entry animation than in Starfield. This suggests that this no-loading-screen feature doesn’t really exist.

Fans are seeing through this no-loading screen. They have admitted it to be too rough with Starfield.

Since the player cannot interrupt the animation to enter the planet faster, it appears more like a disguised loading screen. This is not the first time that AAA games have done this to avoid loading screens.

Opinions on social media are varied, and many players are debating whether this is necessary. On the one hand, some users believe it’s unnecessary, arguing that after five repetitions, players will become fatigued and attempt to skip this scene each time.

This makes sense, as one of the main mechanics of the game is to explore each new planet and go to specific places. Therefore, players will travel a lot between planets, making this animation quite tedious after repeated viewings. Nevertheless, many fans are very excited to see Star Wars Outlaws in action.

The game will offer a fresh take on the franchise with a character type outside the traditional Jedi or Sith roles. On August 30th, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC will receive the release of the title. It will be one of the first games outside of EA to offer something different from what we’ve seen in recent years.

I'm a big fan of movies and videogames in general. I really love Pokémon and Godzilla. One of my favorite games is The Last of Us, Part II. A compelling and well-written story is always welcome.
