Suicide Squad Isekai is picking up the pace for things as the first season of the series is nearing its end. The seventh episode by far stood as the highlight till now and while the 8th episode doesn’t live up to that mark, it is certainly above the rest of the episodes. The Suicide Squad is highly expectant after defeating the Thinker.

Seeing the treatment that the kingdom has thrown at them ever since they arrived, it is only fair for the squad to assume that they too have earned their place. Not only were they shunned as outcasts in their own world but also in the new one. It shows just how foreign they feel and how any sense of belongingness is but a luxury.
Suicide Squad Isekai is a Group of Nobodies
The moment the eighth episode begins, Suicide Squad Isekai brings out the idea that no matter what they do and how much they try to prove themselves, prejudice won’t let them create a place in the kingdom. While at first, their motivations were only to save themselves, they gradually turned to proving themselves. They were villains, yes; but their potential allowed them to be much more.

After being humiliated by the very people who begged them for help, the last straw occurs when one of the officials in the Queen’s court dares to slap Harley. Everyone seems stunned by the audacity and King Shark gulps the man down in one go. That gives the Queen the perfect opportunity to exile and execute them with them all being shunned out of the kingdom with the exception of Nanaue, who was to face the death sentence.
They have no option but to go back, all of them finding themselves in a tavern getting wasted. They drank away their sorrows, watching as everything they had worked so hard to achieve got wasted away into nothingness because of personal agendas.
The Art of Kintsugi
The Japanese art of Kintsugi uses broken pottery and repairing it with gold. When we see the squad, they are broken pieces of a bigger picture. All of them lay senseless, ready to brawl after a bard comes to sing songs of their glory. It is like rubbing salt on a wound that was burnt raw. While they are all contemplating their next step, seeing the world apart from the royal kingdom and seeing them as heroes is as if they are being mocked.

With how intoxicated they were, a fight quickly breaks out. Deadshot and Clayface start fighting with each other and Peacemaker brings his share to the table, albeit with the absence of his pants. None of them were in the right mindset yet all of them were hurting. The following morning when they start their journey back to the gate, the squad stands conflicted about whether or not they should go back for Nanaue.
Amanda Waller comes into the picture again. No fan would be surprised to see just how ruthless and cruel she is but the extent of it comes as a surprise to Rick Flag. When giving his report on how dire the situation is, she orders him to return but for the rest of the Suicide Squad to be left behind. When commotion is made about that, Clayface’s bomb goes off.
Leave No Man Behind
Each and every person stands dumbfounded by how quickly things have escalated for them. At the same time, looking at the distance, they can clearly see the kingdom roaring in flames, engulfed by a new catastrophe. Desperate not only to save his crew but also the people. Rick Flag begs Amanda Waller to give them time and let them save the people.

They were introduced as villains but they would return as heroes. Waller gives them 24 hours, while nowhere near enough, are still better than nothing. Clayface, who was presumed dead, also recreated his head, revealing that he is not that easy to kill. Their goals change drastically, rushing towards King Shark in an attempt to save him.
At the same time, things in the kingdom seem to be declining at a concerning rate. Fione approaches her mother to talk about the gravity of the situation only to find out something utterly bizarre through her reflection. Her mother was replaced by a fowl creature, yearning for wrath and havoc. The entire episode focuses on the bond that the Suicide Squad has built with time and how testing those bonds can lead to grave consequences.
