Batman and Superman have a long-standing rivalry in the DC comics. Often found at different ends of an opinion, the two superheroes rarely seem to see eye to eye when it comes to more radical themes. While they have butted heads quite a lot of times, even in the live-action Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the two superheroes have eventually come together when the greater good of the world is involved.

In the comic book series, the reign of impractical, radical, and dark Superman begins, going on for 5 years after he ends up losing Lois Lane and his unborn child due to Joker. In the Injustice: Gods Among Us- Year 1, Superman goes on a killing spree, imposing a worldwide ceasefire and banning all wars and conflicts.

While Wonder Woman and others join his side, including Damian Wayne, aka Robin, Batman refuses and tries to show the Man of Steel how impractical he is being. Lex Luthor sides up with Superman and creates a supersoldier drug at the Fortress of Solitude.

This drug would not only make one incredibly powerful but also serve to create Superman’s peace army. While Batman tries to stop him, the Krypotion reveals his real identity to the world, leading to an impending conflict and Superman’s defeat at the hands of Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred.

As the conflict builds up, Batman tries to stop Superman. After failing to do so, he and his army infiltrate the Fortress of Solitude to get their hands on the supersoldier drug. While Green Arrow loses his life, Batman gets the pill and rushes to analyze it.

Inevitably, Superman shows up with murder on his mind. Yet Batman, being the master strategist he is tries to stop him by talking, explaining, and rationalizing with him. As he does so, the analysis is complete, and Superman loses his mind and picks up Batman brutally, breaking his spine.

Angry over not being able to protect the Wayne family and losing Nightwing, Alfred takes up the pill and, without a single word, breaks the Man of Tomorrow’s nose with his head. But the loyal butler doesn’t stop there, for he goes on to beat and punch him again and again until the blue suit is red with blood. In the end, he picks up Batmanbat and leaves via a teleporter while Superman is lying there shocked.
