Among the many theories that casually seem to surface out of nowhere, a new one going over how Automatons might be taking over a major piece of equipment in Helldivers 2 has popped up, yet once again becoming an obstacle in the fight for democracy and liberation.
One of the most talked about topics in the community in recent times has been how some of the stratagems in-game seem to be deliberately attacking the soldiers of Super Earth. This can further branch off into how the Automatons might be becoming stronger than ever, gaining the ability to control the machines built to support the helldivers to begin with.

One of the mechanics that Arrowhead Studious has implemented in their game is friendly fire, allowing players to damage their own teammates if they happen to come in the line of fire. Unfortunately, this in turn has caused a bigger nuisance for players as some of the stratagems seem to intentionally aim towards other players in order to deal damage to them.
This is a phenomenon reported by several players online, such as this user on Reddit, who has claimed “That thing deliberately shoots at you without a doubt in my mind” while talking about the friendly mortar sentry.
Bearing in mind how the new bot army comes equipped with new units that are stronger than ever, there might be an undiscovered unit not discovered yet that has the ability to take over players’ stratagems and intentionally damage their teammates.
Why The Worse Might Be Yet To Come For Super Earth Soldiers
Another speculation that has been floating around for a while is how The Illuminate, an enemy faction from the first Helldivers game might have gone into hiding after a potential war with The Terminids led by the Hive Lords. It further states how despite being outnumbered, The Illuminate managed to emerge victorious but had to go into hiding prompted by their decimated resources due to the war.
Finally, the speculation ends by theorizing how the hidden faction is constantly looking for the perfect opportunity to make their return as they cannot fight a war on different ends, and it might just arise anytime, posing a significant threat to Super Earth.
