When Piers Morgan asked Kevin Spacey about Elton John‘s support for him during the trial, Spacey fought back tears to reveal how the singer was there for him throughout the accusations. He revealed to Morgan that John was one of the first people to email him after Anthony Rapp’s accusations in October 2017.

According to Spacey, the Your Song singer said to him at the time, “We love you. Whatever you need, we’re here for you” (via Piers Morgan Uncensored). Spacey also added that John’s husband David Furnish also supported him through the ordeal. The Usual Suspects actor revealed to Morgan that he didn’t ask for the witness testimonies from these two celebrities.

Spacey shared that they insisted on testifying after they found out that one piece of information provided by one of the accusers about them was not true. The Se7en actor further went on to share that he had been very fortunate to have such friends in his life. Spacey shared with Morgan’s Uncensored:

Elton has been there, and David has been there, ever since. What’s most interesting about the fact that they testified in the trial in the UK is that I didn’t ask them. I told them a piece of information that one of the accusers had said about them, which was not true.
And Elton and David said, ‘We have to let the jury know that this individual is not telling the truth.’ They insisted on it. That’s the kind of friends that I have been very fortunate to have in my life.

In his UK trial, he was acquitted of a number of s*xual offenses. Elton John’s witness testimony contradicted one of Spacey’s accuser’s accounts and turned the tide in Spacey’s favor. During the interview, Spacey also revealed that he is in debt due to the legal bills and his Baltimore home is now in foreclosure.
