The First Descendant, developed by Nexon, has quickly gotten a large player base since its release. The community for the new looter shooter has also united in criticism of the game’s endgame.

The main gripe that players have is with the build-crafting system. While it has the potential for depth, it has become a source of discontent for most players for being tedious and restrictive. The intense grind required to optimize builds, coupled with the inflexible system, has led many to voice their concerns and hopes for change.

The First Descendant players mainly dislike the high cost and rigidity of the current module system. One of the primary complaints from players is the excessive grind required to create an optimal build. To achieve a fully optimized endgame build, players must reset their characters to level 40 multiple times to unlock all the necessary polarized sockets.

A significant portion of the community feels that the current system places an unreasonable burden on players who wish to explore different builds. The high costs of modules make it nearly impossible to diversify without grinding.

Especially when many of them require 16 slots or more, this grind consumes time and resources and leads to a repetitive and monotonous experience.

I genuinely hate the endgame build crafting in this game.

Many players are unhappy with the current system, noting that it doesn’t allow experimentation and flexibility. Having ultimate versions of characters has further complicated matters.

Players are hesitant to invest in non-ultimate characters, knowing that they will eventually need to rebuild their characters from scratch once they get the ultimate versions. This not only doubles the workload but also undermines the sense of progression and achievement.

Nexon Has Work to Do for The First Descendant to Last Long-Term

The socket system in The First Descendant is also just as grind-intensive. Players need to polarize all slots on a weapon for a fully optimized build, but this process is less forgiving than it is for characters. This rigidity limits build options and forces players to meticulously plan their socket configurations, often at the cost of variety.

Players also criticize the farming aspect of The First Descendant’s endgame. The repetitive and often monotonous grind for resources like gold, kuiper, and amorphous materials has been criticized for its lack of engagement. Players say they spend more time waiting for missions to become available or for mobs to spawn than actually playing the game.

The developers at Nexon have already received plenty of feedback from the community, urging them to address these concerns. Players want the developers to respect their time and effort and call for changes that make the game more engaging.

By addressing these concerns and implementing player-suggested improvements, Nexon has the opportunity to create a more enjoyable and sustainable endgame experience for its dedicated player base.
