Daemon Targaryen is committed to raising a big army for Rhaenyra and the latest episode of the second season shows a major development in that aspect. However, the episode also explores his deepest vulnerabilities and even foreshadows one critical event from the books that sees the prince meet a devastating fate during the infamous Battle Above the Gods Eye.
House of The Dragon‘s Latest Tease Might Mean A Grim Fate For Daemon Targaryen

House of the Dragon season 2 started with a bang as it continued to explore the headspace of each faction after the catastrophic events of season 1. As the series continues to build on the imminent war that is coming, it also takes its time to flesh out the motivations of the major members involved in the conflict and how they are struggling to come to terms with the losses they have faced.
Matt Smith‘s Daemon Targaryen’s actions in the first episode of the second season led to more casualties and intensified the conflict between the factions. In episode 3, he comes to Harrenhal to raise an army for Rheanyra. However, he is plagued by strange visions and one of them may be teasing a crucial event from George R.R Martin’s Fire & Blood.
After waking up from a weird vision of Rhaenyra, Daemon sees a young woman named Alys who tells him “You will die in this place”. This line may be foreshadowing the events of The Battle Above the Gods Eye where Daemon dies. In Martin’s book, this infamous battle showcased an intense dragon duel between Aemond (on Vhagar) and Daemon (on Caraxes) in the sky above Harrenhal.
The aerial battle sadly ends with all four characters meeting their demise as they crash into Gods Eye Lake. On X, fans believe that the line in the episode is foreshadowing that event from the book and Daemon’s eventual death. Here are some of the reactions,
The foreshadowing and intrigue was so brilliant. Bone chilling. This whole Daemon seem was incredible.

It is noteworthy to mention that while Vhagar and Aemond’s bodies were found, Daemon’s body was never recovered. The creators of the show can use that opportunity to make changes to the show’s version of that event.
It remains to be seen whether they follow the book or make changes to Daemon’s arc regarding the event.
Ewan Mitchell Believes That Aemond Targaryen Idolizes His Uncle Daemon Targaryen

Ewan Mitchell‘s Aemond became a singular target for Daemon in the first episode of House of the Dragon season 2. Following his actions in season 1, Aemond is at a stage of self-reflection and regret while at the same time looking up to Daemon as a big inspiration, according to Mitchell.
As seen in episode 1, Daemon tasks Blood and Cheese to take down Aemond. In an interview with Polygon, Mitchell stated that Aemond feels weirdly proud that Daemon saw him as a foe dangerous enough to be necessarily eliminated. He further describes that Aemond has a romanticized image and idolizes Daemon as his hero. Mitchell said,
I’ve always thought Aemond is Daemon’s biggest stan; so much of the image Aemond has curated over the years, it is almost like a homage to his hero. Aemond idolizes Daemon; there’s almost this romantic quality that Aemond feels that Daemon got this close — or, rather, he sent people to end Aemond’s life, but he didn’t want to do it himself. […] So Aemond likes being noticed by his idol.
Despite Aemond’s apparent idolization of Demon, the two may come head-to-head as the latest episode has hinted at their bloody duel in the infamous The Battle Above the God Eye event from the books. The first three episodes of season 2 of House of the Dragon are available to stream on Max.
