While Deadpool 3 (aka Deadpool & Wolverine) continues to make rounds on the internet, the presumed MCU masterpiece’s filmmaker Shawn Levy is seemingly preparing to bring another piece dripping with sheer brilliance to the table. Adding to this is the fact that this new project he recently teased will be a sequel that fans have been looking forward to for more than a decade.
For the record, yes, we are talking about a sequel to 2011’s initial-mixed-critical-reactions-receiver-turned-cult-classic paragon, Real Steel. And yes, Levy did, in fact, give a positive update on the much-wanted second installment to this masterpiece, sparking hope for Jackman’s return to the iconic saga with his now-Marvel co-star Anthony Mackie!
Real Steel 2 Happening? Here’s What Deadpool & Wolverine Director Has to Say
After more than a decade since the first film’s release back in 2011, director Shawn Levy has finally given some positive updates on the sequel. And though he didn’t say much about it, he still managed to reignite that hope in fans once again of getting a sequel to the sci-fi/sports masterpiece.
This happened at the recently held CinemaCon 2024 event, where the filmmaker was busy promoting his upcoming much-anticipated masterwork for the MCU with Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool & Wolverine.
When caught up and asked by ScreenRant about the much-asked-for prospective sequel to the early 2010s action blockbuster:
“We always talk about Real Steel 2,” admitted Levy. “Because the world won’t let us forget, and I’m glad for that.”
Now that is some update. Putting his words under critical consideration, it’s evident that something is going on behind the screens, and Levy would most certainly come up with something to return to fans all the love that he is “glad” to get for the Anthony Mackie-starrer gem.
Then there’s also Mackie himself, who initially sparked hope for a sequel among fans through his interview with Inverse which claims him to “call director Levy once or twice a year to push for the long-overdue sequel.”
With all this being said, Levy has further fueled fans’ hope for a sequel with Hugh Jackman returning to the big screen with Mackie by his side in the robot-boxing action super-work. And fans aren’t so wrong in hoping for the same either, considering how they’ve yearned for the same for years.
Fans Once Again Hopeful for the Sequel After Deadpool 3 Helmer’s Update
While they had been openly campaigning to get a sequel to Real Steel all these years, fans have finally let their hope soar after Levy’s recent positive update on the same. Now more than ever, they are happily looking forward to finally getting what they have wanted for so long.
In fact, if anything, this update — that doesn’t even officially confirm anything and was only the director teasing the sequel — pretty much has fans happy to the verge of tears. Taking to X, here’s how they’re reacting to this news:

Needless to mention, these fan reactions are more than enough to let everyone know just how well-deserved a sequel is to the 2011 fan-favorite piece of work. That being said, we’re truly hoping Levy cooks something fantastic enough for fans for the sequel after such a long wait!
