God of War is one of the strongest first-party franchises that operates under the PlayStation Studios banner and the gaming community is eager to see where the franchise will go next. The Norse Saga introduced several new characters that could explore other exciting stories to expand the franchise even further.
The franchise can thrive without Kratos being the main character and the developers can always look at the source material and craft unique stories set within the Nine Realms. The God of Thunder had a tragic upbringing and his past could be the perfect story for a smaller spinoff game.
The Gaming Community Wants to See the God of Thunder Lead a God of War Spinoff Game
Santa Monica Studios spent the past few years working on the franchise and crafted one of the best character arcs in gaming history. The Norse Saga may have ended after the events of Ragnarok and the Nine Realms are now free from the clutches of Odin and the Aesir Gods, however, it doesn’t mean that there are no more stories to tell.
The gaming community believes that there is potential for the developers to create more God of War games set within the Norse Saga. In a now-deleted Reddit post, one user asked the question on everyone’s lips regarding which character should be the focus of a spinoff project, and chief among them was the God of Thunder.

The developers could apply a similar strategy used by The Boys and develop smaller spinoff projects before the final season. The gaming community is interested in seeing other characters take center stage for a change and explore different stories in different periods leading up to the events of the Norse Saga.

Thor has a knack for theatrics and added a gimmick where he would snap his fingers whenever he calls for his hammer and kills his enemy or does his father’s bidding. Perhaps a spinoff project set in his early days will explain his weird antics.

Some fans would prefer to see the God of Thunder in a short DLC instead of a full game with Atreus as the lead character. The developers should consider all their options and the different possibilities of expanding the franchise without relying on Kratos before his next journey and wherever it may take him.
In God of War Ragnarok, the developers unveiled a fresh and compelling dimension of the main character, offering the gaming community a rich and diverse portrayal. Ryan Hurst did a phenomenal job and fans would love to see more of the character in other projects.
God of War Ragnarok Propelled the God of Thunder to New Heights
Odin was a terrible father and treated his children as henchmen and pawns to his cause. Other iterations of the Aesir were seen as heroic and selfless, meanwhile, in the game, they control through power and are feared rather than respected and loved.
Sif mentioned there was a time when Thor and his family were happy with Magni and Modi until they were enlisted as Odin’s personal foot soldiers. Pain hardened the God of Thunder and drowning under the bottle, fans were fascinated by his pain and wanted to see more until his untimely demise.
He can’t have always been like this and a tragic backstory will shed new light on the character. Things could have been different for Thor if he dared to fight back against his father.
Santa Monica Studio could flesh out the character more in a spinoff or a DLC and find a way to bring him back to life for future projects. Fans would love to see more of Ryan Hurst as the character.
