You can’t make a silly mistake anywhere near a nerd like Henry Cavill. During an interview in 2011 at the premiere of his movie, Immortals, Cavill destroyed a reporter with his knowledge of Greek mythology. When the reporter asked him about playing a demigod in the film, the Man of Steel actor immediately replied that his character was not a demigod in the myths.

Henry Cavill Shames Reporter For Making A Silly Mistake With His Greek Mythology Character

Henry Cavill played the lead role of Theseus in Tarsem Singh’s mythological film, Immortals. While attending the premiere of his film, Cavill found one mistake in a question from a reporter. The reporter asked about Cavill’s film and his role as Theseus in the film. However, the interviewer referred to the character as a demigod, which was not correct.
In Greek Mythology and in the film, the character is a hoplite, a citizen-soldier, who was believed to be chosen by Zeus to fight evil. He and his mother were deemed outcasts as Theseus was a bastard child. Theseus is then destined to fight against the Titans and the story revolves around the Titanomachy from the myths.
When The Man from U.N.C.L.E actor corrected the reporter, saying, “Theseus isn’t a demigod”, the reporter went on to cite Wikipedia as his source of information (via @queenofyourhearthc | Instagram). However, Cavill appeared to be shocked that the reporter used Wikipedia as his source. Cavill made a sarcastic remark, suggesting that the site is not the most credible source of information. He told the reporter:
You use Wikipedia as your source of information? Tch tch tch.
While Cavill is sure that Theseus is not a demigod, other mythical nerds are still uncertain. The character being a bastard child and his mother’s relationship with a god make it possible that he could be a demigod. However, Cavill is right about the myths not mentioning him as a demigod. And he is absolutely right about not using Wikipedia as your primary source of information.
