SUMMARY

  • Fans have taken to the internet to push for Aldis Hodge's Hawkman and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate as the next characters that should enter the DCU.
  • Given that James Gunn is carrying over Viola Davis' Amanda Waller and Peacemaker over from the DCEU, fans wish that the JSA from the Black Adam films get the same treatment.
  • Given that the DCU is already going to be teeming with heroes when we are introduced to it, the JSA could fit right in with the other superhero coalitions like The Authority.

James Gunn’s DCU’s predecessor, the DC Extended Universe, had the makings of one of the greatest superhero franchises, had it not been from some ridiculously behind-the-scenes meddling from the studio, which stifled the creative capital of the cinematic universe. However, despite the universe being cut short, there were some brilliant choices that the film made, ones that deserve another chance in the DCU.

Fans have taken to the internet to talk about the many things that the DCEU did right, chief among them Doctor Fate, played by Pierce Brosnan, and Hawkman, played by Aldis Hodge. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), fans have come out in support of the portrayal of Hawkman and Doctor Fate as they were depicted in Jaume Collet-Serra’s Balck Adam. Given the unique look that the film had and the talented actors that were a part of the cast, fans are keen on seeing them in the DCU, especially now that more details have been coming out about the film’s look, especially with a better look at Superman’s costume.

Despite Black Adam‘s subpar performance at the box office, the Justice Society of America was one of the highlights of the film. While different from the Justice League that was set up for this universe. The team was sanctioned by Amanda Waller, functioning as a superhero team that is on the government’s beck and call.

James Gunn’s universe is already a set superhero setting

Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, James Gunn is going to introduce DC’s flagship heroes in a world where superheroes already exist. Superman is set to interact with multiple heroes, including The Authority and the Green Lantern Corp. Given that Viola Davis and John Cena are carrying over their characters from the DCEU, James Gunn must consider the fact that Pierce Brosnan and Aldis Hodge played their characters to perfection, and could function well in his established DC Universe.

The JSA could be an influential force in the DCU, setting the groundwork with heroism to create the Justice League, which is all but an inevitability in the DCU. The characters as they stand, such as Doctor Fate, Hawkman, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone, could be an established part of the DCU and could herald the inspiration for the Justice League, as opposed to The Authority.
