Bleach can have as many villains as there can be but Tite Kubo’s masterplan for Aizen will always be on top. His being the big bad is something fans can unanimously agree is a great decision from the author’s side. Whether it be Yhwach or Ulquiorra Cifer, the impact that Aizen had compares to nobody. He is, to date, regarded as perhaps the best villain in the series.
The way he was set up and how he was made it impossible for fans to hate him regardless of his villainy. He may not have been the main villain of the story but the majority of the series saw him as this big bad power rising to the top with a plan worth brain cells upon brain cells invested.
Aizen Wasn’t Part of Tite Kubo’s Plan
During a Jump Festival Interview (via Bleach Fandom), Tite Kubo revealed some extremely interesting information about the big bad of Bleach. Aizen being the antagonist of the series was one of the biggest twists no one had seen coming at that time. It caught everybody off guard because of how he was behind it all.
At first I did not plan Aizen to become the shadow behind everything. I just thought he will become the enemy after he was killed.
Kubo talked about how although he had intended for Aizen to take on a villainous role, his being the main focus was never part of his plan. It may not have been Tite Kubo’s plan but it was certainly part of Aizen’s plan. What the author had intended to do instead was to have him take on an antagonist perspective only after his death.
The entire idea of him pulling the strings of Ichigo’s fight so as to prepare and train him was something he came up with only afterward. Needless to say, his change of decision gave birth to a legendary meme.
Aizen’s Plan was Bigger than Tite Kubo’s
Bleach fans may be more than familiar with one of the most iconic memes that came out of Tite Kubo’s creation. Making Aizen such a cunning and gruesome villain, so aware of his own flaws yet embracing each and every one of them, made him such a captivating and interesting villain. In the process, Kubo made him the mastermind behind everything.
He was carefully manipulating everything. From Ichigo’s battles to many intricacies of the Soul Society, he became a villain dominating and towering over every evil scheme introduced in Bleach. This brought about one of his most iconic lines, for everything to be All according to plan.
Very quickly a line that was intimidating and a turning point for the series became a widespread meme. Much like how everything is a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure reference, everything is part of Aizen’s plan at the same time.
