When Valorant beta was released back in 2020, it only featured 10 agents. Since then 14 more agents with unique abilities have been added to the game. Initially, two more agents, Shatter and Crusader, were found in the game’s files and players expected Riot Games to release in the future. However, Valorant dev soon confirmed that these agents were scrapped and one of these two characters was eventually converted into Breach.

Valorant lead character designer Ryan “Morello” Scott, who left Riot Games in late 2020, once confirmed that Crusader was eventually transformed into Breach. If Breach had the abilities that Crusader had, the character would’ve been far more tolerable but Riot Games chose to change Breach’s abilities. In total, Riot Games has scrapped three Valorant agents so far: Shatter, Joules, and Crusader.

As per NME, former Valorant lead character designer Ryan “Morello” Scott once revealed in a Twitch stream that the unreleased Valorant agent named Crusader was eventually reworked into Breach. Crusader featured shield-type abilities that included a Riot Shield, Sword, and Flash Grenade. From the game’s data, players were also able to find sound effects of a slash, shield throw, and grenade flash.

The character was reworked into Breach, an agent that is often hated by others on the battlefield for its Flashpoint and Aftershock abilities. The players abused these two abilities so much that Riot Games had to nerf Breach to make the game balanced and fair. It would’ve been exciting to see Breach with a Riot Shield. Nonetheless, Breach can be a good Initiator sometimes.

Shatter and Joules were also removed from the final version of Valorant

Shatter’s data was also discovered in the game’s files but his ability eventually made it into the game. Shatter was able to create a clone of themselves and could “shatter” it on command, similar to Yoru’s Fakeout ability that we have in the game.

Without a doubt, Joules is an agent who led to the creation of Killjoy, Sova, and Jett. Her Lockdown was the prototype for Killjoy’s Lockdown, her Drone Dart served as the prototype for Sova’s Owl Drone, and her Blink served as the prototype for Jett’s Tailwind. She also had prototype abilities called “Seaker Bolt” and “Shock Grenade.” Currently, the Valorant community is excited about Valorant‘s closed beta for consoles. After 4 years of dominating the PC world, players are excited to see how Valorant performs on the consoles.
