There are always hints and signs of a new enemy about to enter the fray within the game, and this is done through subtle references and visuals. These may be false flags, but there appears to be a new threat in the sky that may hint at something bigger.

One would think that when an enemy is looking to enter a battlefield, they would do so with the element of surprise. But is it a new threat making itself known in the skies? One Redditor appears to think so.

Helldiver sitharval posted an image on the game’s subreddit about his latest finds in the skies over Vandalon IV. We can see the silhouette of a ship in the sky. This isn’t the first time ominous ships have been spotted in the sky in Helldivers 2, and it always comes back to the same theory: the arrival of the Illuminates.

These foes are the toughest challenge faced by the Helldivers, as they are also their smartest adversaries. While their appearance in Helldivers 2 has been predicted for a while now, they have yet to make their presence known. These clues may hint at that, but another Redditor feels it’s a misleading post and that every ship in the sky does not hint at the Illuminate appearing in the game.

In a comment response to the image, Redditor Ak_Jack_Hd_Hd explains how the ship sighted is most likely a Helldivers Liberty Class cruiser intended for space engagements. They also share a screenshot of their own to illustrate their point and mark the differences between enemy ships and those of Helldivers. They end the comment by stating that not every ship in the sky is a sign that the Illuminate is coming.

Arrowhead Game Studios Could Be Turning Things Around

It’s been a rocky few months for the studio. Not only did the Steam and PlayStation account linking issue affect the title’s concurrent player count, but fans were also criticizing the studio’s latest Warbond, Viper Commandos, for offering very little value. Thankfully, Arrowhead has listened to all the feedback and is looking to change things up.

The studio will now be taking more time to release Warbonds. The previous target was to release one every month, which many fans said was an unrealistic goal. The studio has since revised this timeline to give developers more time with Warbonds, so players can get more from each new content update to Helldivers 2.

This decision should also help the studio focus on releasing patches and fixes for some issues that have been hampering the experience. Fans have been asking for the fixes to be prioritized over new content, as it would enable people to play the game without feeling frustrated.
