Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 recently shared a gameplay overview trailer that showed the different game modes, Campaign, Operations and Eternal War in depth. They were hoping to play the beta soon but are now left disappointed.

The developer shared the announcement on the beta via Steam and said that the game is “almost ready” and it is focused on “optimization, polish and fixing remaining issues ahead of launch.” It further added that as it focuses of making the game ready for launch it will “not run a public online beta.”

The reason that the developer cited was that the beta will move the developers away from preparing the game for full release and it doesn’t want that as it is prioritizing “the best possible experience” for players. The developer also apologized to the fans for this “disappointing news.”

The developers added that as a thank you to the players who were interested in participating in the online beta and players who had registered through the online signup before June 28, 2024, midnight Paris Time, will get the limited Bolt Pistol skin in the game.

The developer thanked the fans for their cooperation saying, “We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we work towards delivering the exceptional game you deserve.” Fans are not sure exactly why would the developer canceled the beta and why it took so long for it to tell fans.

Some players even said that Saber is trying to not show the game to anyone before release and it is understandable. While fans speculate on other reasons behind the cancelation of the beta, it is good to see that Saber wants to launch the game in the best condition and doesn’t want to ruin it with the beta.

Not running a beta will let the developers sort any and all issues out in the game and it will help players and Saber in the long term. This is not to say that the game will be issue-free upon launch or post-launch but it will surely have fewer problems then it could have had if wasn’t polished as required.
