The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes might be set in the future, but it takes us on a trip to the past – to the era of Planet of the Apes, a movie where humans and apes have switched positions and the former is at the latter’s mercy. That isn’t the only way the movie is willing to turn the clock back – following in the same vein as its Planet of the Apes predecessors, the movie has managed to rock box office charts continuously. Its successful run at the Box Office means that it has already made its way into a special list of movies that hit the theatres this year.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has had a good run
It has been well over a month since Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes came to theatres. And in its month long spell, it has managed to enthrall fans left, right and centre, with fans flocking to the theatres in large numbers to catch more glimpses of the story.
The fourth installment in the Planet of the Apes universe revolves around a chimpanzee hunter, Noa, a human who is not as dumb as the other ones, and a king who doesn’t want to hear anything about humans. We have at our hand a deadly combination. No wonder the movie has amassed a fortune.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the 3rd highest grossing film this year
The film has earned well over $350 million arising out of the domestic as well as worldwide sales. The domestic haul of $158 million, alongwith overseas collection in the range of $200 million, indicate that the movie is all set to rule the charts this year.
Made on a budget of $160 million, these numbers make it apparent that the movie has a shot at becoming the fans’ favorites and if, fate is on their side, cross the $490 million earned by War for the Planet of the Apes. Though that is a discussion best left for the future, the movie has still managed to carve its place in Top 3 Highest Grossing movies this year.
Fans of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes couldn’t be more excited

The stellar run means that the film might just lead the charts in 2024. And even if they couldn’t amass the numbers, they would have made the market fall in love with the project.

It won’t be outlandish if the studio presses on with the plan and releases a sequel. The people at the helm would know better than following a fans’ opinion and tread cautiously. But the success of Kingdom might have emboldened them to take bolder calls. Only time will tell.
