Hugh Jackman’s new movie plot has left fans in a confused state. The bizarre plot of the newly announced comedy film, Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie, is based on Leonie Swann’s German bestselling novel. Besides Jackman, the film has an ensemble cast including Emma Thompson, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, and Hong Chau.
Fans may not have to worry too much about the film because of the stellar star cast assembled by Amazon MGM Studios. Moreover, the adaptation is being written by The Last of Us showrunner, Craig Mazin. Mazin has proved himself a capable comedy writer with his works like Scary Movie 3 & 4 and The Hangover Part II & III.
Fans Are Still Coming to Terms With Hugh Jackman’s New Movie Plot
Hugh Jackman will make his much-anticipated superhero comeback in Deadpool & Wolverine shortly. Fans can’t get enough of Jackman’s roles, and his new movie announcement has many excited. However, upon reading the plot, many fans wondered about the wacky script selection of the Prisoners actor.
According to Deadline, the new film Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie will follow shepherd George Hardy, played by Jackman, who reads murder mystery stories to his herd of sheep. Unknown to Hardy, his sheep would argue on the whodunnit for hours. When Hardy is found dead one day under mysterious circumstances, the sheep have a real murder mystery to solve.
Fans on social media were scratching their heads at this bizarre plot for a movie. One fan shared that they couldn’t believe what they just read. Another fan had the question of whether the film was animated. Amazon has tasked Kyle Balda to helm the film, an animation veteran who worked on Minions: The Rise of Gru and Despicable Me 3. However, the new film is said to be Balda’s live-action debut.
Fans agreed that the plot is definitely bizarre and interesting at the same time, with some raising their doubts like how sentient the sheep in the storyline would be. However, one fan was sure that the film would work given Leonie Swann’s novel, originally titled Glennkill in German, was a bestseller. Some of the fan comments read:

Lindsay Doran and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will be serving as the producers of the film. Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Aditya Sood, and Tim Wellspring will be the executive producers. According to THR, the principal photography on the feature has already begun.

Hugh Jackman came back from superhero retirement to take on the role of Wolverine in Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor, who’s 55, showed no signs of aging as he committed to the role with the same dedication he had before. He planned out a workout regime that worked for him and ate 6 meals a day even if he found it very challenging to do.
During a recent PEOPLE segment, Reynolds appreciated how Jackman not only worked on the aesthetic transformation but also performed many of the intense stunts in the movie. Reynolds even shared that Jackman beat him with speed and confidence during filming. The two of them also joked about how Jackman was not pulling any punches during the fight scene between them.
After the action-intense Deadpool 3, the comedy film Three Bags Full will be the perfect project for Jackman to give his body some rest. The actor has no other projects lined up, and Amazon has announced the release of the film on February 20, 2026.
