Attack on Titan had some interesting characters that developed as the series continued. Some got better development and chose to do the right thing according to the world, while others decided to do what was best for them and their people. They came to be known as the Jaegerists as they decided to follow Eren to destroy the entire world except Paradis.
Among those Jaegerists, the most loyal character was Floch Forster, one of the founding members of the Jaegerists who played a crucial role in letting Eren escape and meet Zeke to contemplate their plane. Floch was probably the most loyal to Eren Jaeger and believed that only he could help free Paradis from the recurring deaths.
However, his loyalty to Eren was never justified or given any reason in the series. The Jaegerists had a lot of soldiers but none of them was as loyal as Floch who not only committed crime but also killed his comrades. There is, however, one instance that could explain why Floch started blindly following Eren in the first place.
Floch Forster in Attack on Titan
Floch Forster had been a Survey Corps recruit. Before the return to Shiganshina District, he enlisted in the regiment and was assigned to Squad Klaus. He was the only other battle survivor besides Hange Zoë and Squad Levi. As the series progresses, Floch grows hateful of people living outside the Walls after learning the truth.
He was among the Yeagerists who rose to become the faction’s de facto leader. Furthermore, he thought Eren was the only one who could save the New Eldian Empire. As a Yeagerist leader, Floch was intense as compared to his time in the survey corps.
In his final moments, Floch pleaded with Jean and Hange to allow Eren to continue his rumbling, referring to him as a devil but the only one who could save Eldia, demonstrating how much faith and confidence Floch had in Eren.
Floch Foster’s Loyalty Towards Eren Jaeger
Although the reason behind Floch’s initial and ongoing loyalty to Eren is never made clear, it is easy to understand given what happened during the last season of Attack on Titan. His devotion to Eren developed following Levi’s battle with the Beast Titan.
Floch was a member of the soldiers who were ultimately ordered to march to their deaths to give Levi the best chance of slaying the Beast Titan. Floch ended up being the only victim of the attack to escape unharmed beside Levi.
Floch began to hate the world after he saw all of his friends pass away, and he believed that Eren was the only one who could lead the remaining Eldians in Paradis to victory over the entire world. Floch is genuinely loyal to Eren because he thinks that only Eren can wipe out the entire human race and ensure the future of the Paradisian people.
