Since The Judgement Day‘s release back in ’91, often deemed as one of the best action films of all time, The Terminator franchise has just been a shell of its former self. And with the last two attempts at revamping the IP failing and Arnold Schwarzenegger cutting ties with his iconic part, the future of the iconic franchise remains uncertain.

But earlier this year, James Cameron confirmed that he is actively working on the script for the next entry in the series, and rumors emerged stating that Henry Cavill might be the one to lead this one. While these rumors were proven to be wrong, another DC Star is in the mix to be the one to bring the franchise back to its glory days.

John Cena Can Be the Perfect Successor to Arnold Schwarzenegger

For a while, John Cena’s name has been tossed around among the possible candidates to carry the torch left by Arnold Schwarzenegger, which doesn’t appear too far-fetched. Considering Cena is one of the few actors in Hollywood who can match Arnold Schwarzenegger’s physicality for the role and following his acting capabilities, there’s no denying he can be the perfect fit for Terminator.

Furthermore, keeping in mind that Cena posted a Skynet logo on his Instagram a few months back, this might be his way of teasing fans about what’s to come. But following the randomness in his Instagram page, there’s an equal possibility that it doesn’t have any meaning behind it, and the Peacemaker Star might be simply showcasing his love for the franchise.

John Cena’s Next Major DC Outing Can Break His Sequel Curse

Although it might be a while before we get an update on who might be taking the iconic mantle moving forward, the WWE Superstar’s fans still have a lot to smile about. With James Gunn confirming that John Cena will be indeed returning to the new DCU, reprising the part of Peacemaker, it might break the actor’s sequel curse. Considering the sequels under his belt have failed to live up to their predecessors, including Fast X, Daddy’s Home 2, and Vacation Friends 2, Peacemaker 2 might turn things around for the actor.

With Gunn’s impeccable writing and direction behind the wheel and Cena’s prowess as an actor, fans can hope for the next season to be on par with the first one.
