Antoine Fuqua Forces An US Aircraft Carrier To Provide Him the Necessary Lighting For His Film

Tears of the Sun is an outstanding movie from the early 2000s, that had one of the most gripping plots, amazing action scenes, and a very important message. The film followed an intense narrative of a team of Navy SEALs as they are deployed in conflict-ridden Nigeria, which shows the dilemma between following orders and living with the actions of their consequences.

The film was shot in Nigeria, and the conditions were kept as realistic as possible, the lighting conditions gave a difficult time to Antoine Fuqua for shooting the necessary scenes. Since a part of the movie was made on the USS Harry S. Truman. Fuqua was advised by Harry Humphries, the technical adviser of the film to use the aircraft carrier to give him the best conditions to complete his film. The director then asked the aircraft carrier to repeatedly turn to provide him with the right lighting conditions for his film.

While Antonie Fuqua’s collaboration with Bruce Willis gave him a positive response to the film. He did not like the professionalism and the work ethic of the actor. And the life of The Equalizer director became a living nightmare working with Bruce Willis.

Bruce Willis Made Antoine Fuqua’s Life Harder While Working For Tears of The Sun

While filmmakers tend to work alongside Bruce Willis for their films. Antoine Fuqua claims that the Glass actor is difficult to work with as he can often be demanding, cooperative, and opinionated on the set. While they were friends off camera, Fuqua claimed that Bruce Willis was a “pain in my a**” during the shooting of the 2003 film, as he did not gel with the actor.

“We just didn’t get along. We got along off camera, but shooting [Tears Of The Sun] we just didn’t get along. Some men don’t gel when it comes to work, you have different work ethics, different opinions, different points of view, different methods of filmmaking, and we didn’t gel. Off camera we were friends, Bruce is great, but we just don’t get along when it comes to work, and that’s pretty much it.”

As a result of the frequent conflicts on the set of Tears of the Sun, the film managed to collect only $86.5 million worldwide despite featuring Bruce Willis and Monica Belluci in the main cast of the film.
