The film is quite different from the works that the actor usually features in, however, there is absolutely no doubt that he would fit perfectly in it. Not only because he has worked with the director earlier, but because of the role that Gilliam wants him to play, that of Satan. Considering how many odd roles Depp has played in the past, this would fit perfectly in his filmography.

What Is The Movie About?

While many might assume that since Satan is to feature in this movie, it would be in a negative light, this does not seem to be the case. Carnival at the End of Days features the story of an earth that has been wiped out of humanity by the hands of God. Oddly enough, the only character interested in saving the human race is Satan, who could be played by Johnny Depp.

The concept is that since humanity has been wiped out, Satan doesn’t have a job anymore, which is the worst possible fate for an immortal being. In order to convince God to change his mind, he finds some young people and puts them forth as a new version of Adam and Eve. However, this does not work and God wipes out humanity anyway. Ironically enough, Terry Gilliam mentions that this movie is a comedy.
