The MCU took over film productions in 2007, having released numerous films that highly appeal to the fans ever since. However, Marvel Studios outdid itself after releasing its greatest blockbuster Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Directed by the Russo brothers- Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, it vaulted the Avengers franchise to a whole new level.
Out of the four Avengers movies, Endgame managed to sweep fans off their feet, which resulted in a multi-billion-dollar gross income. Regardless, it is hard to say that the movie was perfect. None is. While it’s difficult to find logic in a largely fantasy-based franchise, there were some flaws that do not make sense overall. Here are 2 things that did not quite go with the epic storyline.
1. Not Destroying The Gauntlet
The Avengers could have cut down on their work had they destroyed the Infinity Gauntlet when the Big Battle presumed. Because they didn’t, a second Thanos remerged from the time rift. Therefore, the superheroes on duty had to kill the alien god twice. While it is known that destroying the Gauntlet could have resulted in additional gory scenarios, it could have prevented Thanos from redoing the debacle and Robert Downey Jr. concluding his superhero alias.
Losing half of the universe was once again at stake when Thanos was in possession of the Gauntlet. Truth be told, the Infinity Gaunltet’s powers are supreme, hence, even the Avengers relied on it, to undo things. If not destroyed, the Avengers should have protected the Gauntlet at all costs. Consequently, all of this mandated Tony Stark’s sacrifice to save the universe.
2. Not Fighting With A Plan
Avengers: Endgame earned a whopping $2.799 billion worldwide, per Koimoi. There’s a great idea that went behind this big income: sacrifice. Unlike other Avengers movies, Endgame saw the end of an iconic superhero who basically sparked Marvel’s reign in 2008. Iron Man self-sacrificed himself, which left fans in shock and heartbroken. One of the coolest heroes of the MCU was no more? It was a truth too hard to believe. Well, Endgame did it for real.
However, defeating Thanos could have been simpler if they had the kind of team coordination as in Avengers: Infinity War. The Avengers were on a quest to keep Thanos stationary. Needless to say, it was one of the most successful and well-executed plans by the superheroes. Hence, the debate remains why wasn’t such a game plan followed in the Big Battle?
The protectors of the universe tackle Thanos one by one, only to get smashed back in Endgame. However, it is worth noting that Marvel bosses weren’t really hoping for a happy ending. Thus, the emotional ending to a great legacy.
If you look at it at a deeper level, the movie certainly has a few other flaws. However, as the name suggests Endgame was really about an ending, and Marvel Studios delivered. To continue the Avengers legacy, Marvel has hinted at the probable existence of Young Avengers, expected to be led by Ms. Marvel.
