Change is afoot in the Arrow Writers’ Room.
Beth Schwartz, who started as a writer’s assistant in season one and gradually moved up to co producer this current season, will be the new showrunner for season seven.
Greg Berlanti made the following statement on Beth Schwartz’s new role:
“We are all so incredibly thrilled to announce Beth Schwartz as the new showrunner of Arrow. She has been a source of some of the show’s most exciting and memorable moments from the beginning. Beth is a true leader and a captivating storyteller, and we all can’t wait for the audience to see what she and her team dream up as they take Arrow into its next big chapter.”
Series co creator Marc Guggenheim is stepping down to serve as a creative consultant, while current showrunner Wendy Mericle will be leaving the show after this current season.
Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen/Speedy, Paul Blackthorne as Quentin Lance, Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake/Black Canary, Rick Gonzalez as Rene Ramirez/Wild Dog, Echo Kellum as Curtis Holt/Wild Dog and Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance/Black Siren.
In season six, following the explosive battle on Lian Yu, Oliver must balance his crime-fighting duties, being the mayor, and being a father to his son William. At the same time, new enemies emerge in Star City, initially led by villainous hacker Cayden James, who puts together a villainous team with drug dealer Ricardo Diaz, ruthless metahuman vigilante Vincent Sobel, Russian mobster Anatoli Knyazev, and the deadly Black Siren. As Cayden James loses control of his cabal, Ricardo Diaz comes to the fore, announcing to Green Arrow his scheme to take over Star City’s criminal underworld and control the city’s political infrastructure.
