It appears dead men will continue to tell tales.

According to Deadline, Disney has met with screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick about a reboot for the profitable Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

The writing duo is responsible for writing hit films such as the first two Deadpool films for Fox and 2009’s Zombieland and it’s upcoming sequel. Reese and Wernick wrote 6 Underground, a Netflix film that will be directed by Michael Bay, and starring Ryan Reynolds.

The last Pirates film, Dead Men Tell No Tales was released in 2017 with a world wide box office total of $794 million worldwide. The franchise overall has grossed over $4.5 billion dollars since the debut of Curse of the Black Pearl back in 2003.

At this time it’s uncertain if Johnny Depp will return as the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow. Jerry Bruckheimer will produce this installment, as he has been producing the other films since Black Pearl.

Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Brendon Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, Golshifteh Farahani, Kevin McNally, Stephen Graham, Orlando Bloom, and Geoffrey Rush.

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea… including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is now available on Digital and Blu-ray.
