Chris Meledandri, the creator of Despicable Me is about to make a lot of dreams come true. The Shrek Franchise, which once ended in 2010 is about to be revived. The Big Green Ogre is going to hit the big screen soon with his pals as Universal Pictures is planning for a reboot.
One of the main purposes of this revival is Universal Pictures plans for bringing back the franchise with a fresh new energy.
There were speculations that Meledandri might bring in a fresh new cast in his Shrek version. However, he is strictly against it. He believes that the real magic of the Shrek movies was in the awesome vocal performances by Mike Myers, Antonio Banderas and not to forget, Eddie Murphy. He said that it’s those voices which will make the audience go all nostalgic and connect themselves with those characters.
He said the following:
“The challenge for us has been to find something that really does feel like it’s not simply yet another film in a series of sequels.”
Directed by Scott Mosier and Yarrow Cheney, The Grinch stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rashida Jones, Kenan Thompson, Cameron Seely, and Angela Lansbury.
The Grinch hatches a scheme with his trusted canine Max and fat reindeer Fred to ruin Christmas when the residents of Whoville plan to make their annual holiday three times bigger that year: steal all the Christmas gifts from Whosville’s inhabitants disguised as Santa Claus. Meanwhile, Cindy Lou Who plans to seek out Santa Claus to thank him for helping her widowed mother every Christmas, but little does she know she is trying to blow the Grinch’s cover.
