With only a week to go before Disney and Marvel Studios conclude the 11-year built up climax to what has been dubbed the MCU’s “Infinity Saga”, fans are on tenterhooks to find out which of their favorite characters will survive and who won’t be as lucky.

With half of the heroes from Avengers: Infinity War falling victim to Thanos’ snap, everyone is trying to work out how some if not all of our fallen heroes will return during the events of Avengers: Endgame.

However, with movies, sequels and Disney+ TV shows already being announced, it is safe to say we know who will most likely survive the final confrontation with Thanos.

Continue reading below for our list of characters who will most likely make it to Phase 4.

Spider-Man

'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Pushed Forward 3 Days

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has received nothing but positivity since his debut as the third portrayal of the web-slinger, including his death scene during Avengers: Infinity War being called one of the most tear-jerking moments with Holland’s reportedly improvised acting.

Why his death is certainly not a permanent thing however, is that he is already set to star in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home, slated for release in July 2019, which serves as both a sequel to 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as the first movie in the MCU’s Phase 4 which has already been billed as dealing with the fallout of Avengers: Endgame.

Scarlet Witch & Vision

Scarlet Witch and Vision are very much on a ratio 75/25 in terms of surviving or not. The reason for this is their upcoming Disney+ series WandaVision could very easily be a series set in a time already gone chronologically in the MCU, post-Civil War but pre-Infinity War.

However, with both characters suffering different forms of death at the end of Infinity War with Vision having the Mind Stone ripped from his forehead by Thanos and Scarlet Witch being “dusted”, it remains to be seen just how our remaining Avengers find a way to bring both characters back.

Falcon & Winter Soldier

Both Falcon and Winter Soldier have served as Captain America’s right-hand men in one form or another both in the comics and movies at some point. What is interesting also is both sidekicks have taken on the mantle of Captain America from their predecessors at one time as well which has been a question hovering over the MCU since Civil War, if Steve Rogers dies, who will become the next Captain America?

Whether we find this out on their new TV series or not remains to be seen but as they are both set to star in what promises to be an odd couple type of series based on their interactions in the past, both are clearly going to be brought back to life somehow,

Hawkeye

Jeremy Renner was the latest MCU actor to receive the Disney+ treatment and interestingly enough the only hero out of the original 6 Avengers to do so. It’s no secret Hawkeye has been invisible throughout the majority of the MCU only appearing in the first two Avengers movies with a minor introduction in 2011’s Thor and his latest appearance being Captain America: Civil War in 2016.

However, as both Renner and Endgame directors, the Russo Brothers, have promised more focus on Hawkeye in the upcoming movie, the movie will potentially be a springboard for his upcoming television series which is reportedly a series where Clint passes the mantle down to the next Hawkeye.

With this new Hawkeye potentially appearing in Avengers: Endgame based on one shot from trailers, comic-book fans are interested to see if this new archer is in fact Kate Bishop.

The Guardians of the Galaxy

It has been a rocky trail for the space rogues over the past couple of years. After a critically-acclaimed sequel and formal introduction into the MCU mixing with the Earth-bound heroes, fans were eagerly awaiting the third and final installment to the Guardians trilogy.

Unfortunately for both the fans and characters, controversy surrounding James Gunn soon hit which sent the team’s future into question leading fans to wonder if they will simply remain dead after Avengers: Endgame, however now things seem to be back on track it does seem as if it is business as usual.

Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) are currently the only two surviving members of the Guardians with Gamora (Zoe Saldana) being sacrificed by Thanos to obtain the Soul Stone and the remaining Guardians being dusted.

However, with a confirmed third movie, regardless of pushbacks, it stands to reason that at least the dusted Guardians will return in Endgame and a plot point for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 being them finding a way to rescue Gamora.

Black Widow

After 8 years since Scarlet Johansson’s first appearance as the super spy Black Widow and many fans begging for a solo movie, Marvel is finally developing one. It would be criminal to both fans and Johansson if the movies were to kill her off in Endgame and still expect interest in an as yet undated Black Widow movie which currently has no plot or teases.

Black Panther

It is no secret that 2018’s Black Panther was a phenomenon for both comic-book movies and the representation of African Culture in film. Such the case that fans were left disappointed not only with T’Challa’s minimal role in Avengers: Infinity War but were shocked when he became one of the many to disintegrate as a result of Thanos’ snap.

However, with a sequel Black Panther movie confirmed by both Kevin Feige and returning director Ryan Coogler, it is all but confirmed that Chadwick Boseman will return to resume his role as the King of Wakanda.

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange Infinity War

Doctor Strange is possibly one of the only people who knows how Avengers: Endgame will end as fans are predicting that him giving up the Time Stone to Thanos was part of that one possible future he saw where the Avengers were victorious against the Mad Titan.

Much like Black Panther, Doctor Strange also has a sequel movie announced. While both movies do not have a release date or any plot details to tease us, the fact remains this news means Benedict Cumberbatch will return as the Mystic Avenger.

Captain Marvel

Brie Larson has only just joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year and Carol Danvers has been hyped up so much as being “the most powerful Avenger”. With her present-day introduction set to be in Avengers: Endgame with promotional material already released surrounding her interacting with the remaining Avengers, it remains to be seen if those boasts are in fact true or not.

What is true is that the success of the recent Captain Marvel paves the way for a sequel and the reported promise by Feige that the part-Kree superhero is set to become the new leader of the Avengers post-Endgame means the character making up for lost time.

Loki

Loki is the biggest mystery for fans as, not only was his death at the very beginning of Avengers: Infinity War with an old-fashioned strangulation death followed by the vessel where he laid being obliterated, his Disney+ television series has not yet been confirmed as a prequel series or a series that follows Endgame chronologically.

All we know is that Tom Hiddleston is set to appear, for all the fans know it could be a “Young Sheldon” situation where the adult actor is narrating the events of a young Loki’s origins.

Now of course there are other characters who could very easily appear in Phase 4 but there are also a handful of characters that may not be so lucky. Stay tuned for our list of the 5 characters who may not survive Avengers: Endgame.
