The Biggest Announcements From E3 2019 So Far

We are only two days into the 25th annual Electronic Entertainment Expo and there’s already so much to take away.

Microsoft, EA, and Bethesda have already held their conferences this weekend and they took full advantage of them to announce upcoming titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Halo Infinite, and Star Wars: Jedi: Fallen Order. Microsoft perhaps made the most noise with their reveal of Project Scarlett, the next-generation Xbox and Keanu Reeves’ on-stage appearance for Cyberpunk 2077. Now let’s recap some of those important moments from the show!

Project Scarlett

Microsoft concluded their presser with a 3 minute video detailing the process behind developing their next-generation Xbox console including technical specifications. Some of those specifications are similar to what Sony has already confirmed with their plans for the Playstation 5, including a solid state-drive which will improve loading times and support for 8K resolutions and 120 frames-per-second. While we don’t have a name for Project Scarlett, we now know that Microsoft intends to release it just in time for the Holiday season of 2020.

Halo Infinite

Alongside the launch of Project Scarlett next year players will finally get to play the recently announced Halo Infinite as a launch title. Microsoft was able to show a new trailer for the science fiction shooter.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

At EAPlay, Electronic Arts was able to showcase footage from a 13-minute long demo for Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Fallen Order is the first canon story-driven single player title to be developed and published through EA’s partnership with Disney. Fallen Order is scheduled to release on November 15th, 2019 on the Playstation 4, PC, and Xbox One.

Cyberpunk 2077

Polish publisher/developer CD Projekt Red released a brand new cinematic trailer for their highly anticipated science fiction RPG Cyberpunk 2077. John Wick star Keanu Reeves later took to the stage to announce that he is going to play a role in the game and reveal the release date. Cyberpunk2077 is scheduled to release on April 16th, 2020 on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.

Gears of War 5

Microsoft release a new trailer for the fifth installment in their popular Gears of War franchise and announced the release date. Gears of War 5 is set to release on September 10th, 2019 for PC and XBox One.

Elden Ring

Dark Souls creator FromSoftware and legendary Game of Thrones scribe George R. R. Martin were finally able to reveal the project they were working on with Elden Ring. The trailer doesn’t provide a lot of information, but it is clearly going to be an epic fantasy title.

The Outer Worlds

From Fallout creator Obsidian Entertainment came a new trailer for the first-person RPG title The Outer Worlds. The Outer Worlds is scheduled for release on October 25th, 2019 for PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.

Fallout 76’s Wastelanders Expansion

Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to Fallout 76 by announcing their new free expansion, Wastelanders. The expansion will see the inclusion of NPCs and dialogue trees into the post-apocalyptic RPG. Wastelanders is set to go live sometime this Fall.

Fallout 76’s Nuclear Winter

Wastelanders is not the only update that Fallout 76 will receive in the coming months. During their presser, Bethesda announced that they are launching a 52-player battle royale mode titled, Nuclear Winter at some point in the Fall. Right now players can even experience a free trial of Fallout 76 from June 10th to June 17th where they can get a taste of Nuclear Winter.

Double Fine Studios’ Psychonauts 2

Over the past year, Microsoft has been acquiring studios left and right for Xbox Game Studios. Their latest acquisition of Double Fine Studios, the developer behind Psychonauts was announced during the presser where they also premiered a new trailer for Psychonauts 2.

Doom Eternal

Doom fans got another look at Doom Eternal and a release date for the sequel to 2016’s Doom. Doom Eternal is set to release on November 22 on the Google Stadia, PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Doom Eternal Battlemode

ID Software also gave players a glimpse at Doom Eternal‘s multiplayer mode, Battlemode. With Battlemode, one player will take on the role of a demon and another will play a Slayer in a fight to the death.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Moon Studios gave us a new trailer for Ori and the Will of the Wisps which is a sequel to the 2015 title Ori and the Blind Forest. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is set to release on February 11th, 2020 on PC and Xbox One.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

The Evil Within developer Tango Gameworks released a teaser for Ghostwire: Tokyo. The game looks like a departure from Tango’s previous work and features a supernatural masked archer who is seemingly going to fight against demonic forces all over Tokyo. It is presently unknown when the game will release or what consoles it will be available on.

Deathloop

Dishonored developer Arkane Studios was able to show off their first-person action adventure title Deathloop. The trailer shows off what Arkane does best when it comes to player agency by giving players multiple options in how to engage their game.

Xbox xCloud

Microsoft unveiled their Xbox xCloud service which will give players the ability to stream whatever they like to play as well as have handheld access to their games. This means that Xbox fans can play games wherever they are and whenever they want, including on their phones and tablets.

Well, those are some of the biggest takeaways from E3 2019 so far. It’s a lot of information to digest, but that’s why we’re here. You can already tell that the next few years in the gaming industry will provide a lot of big wins for gamers, publishers, and developers as well.
