Publisher/developer Ubisoft gave more information on their upcoming installment to the Tom Clancy franchise with Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
Obviously with Ghost Recon Breakpoint set to release this year it is no surprise that upcoming mil-sim title was going to be the centerpiece of Ubisoft’s presser at E3 this year. They didn’t hold out on providing some new details on the game either.
During the presser, Ubisoft released two brand new trailers to promote the game. The first trailer is cinematic featuring Breakpoint‘s antagonist, rogue Ghost Cole D. Walker as portrayed by The Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal. In the cinematic, Walker is addressing his fellow soldiers to get them ready to hunt you and your teammates down after you crashed on the game’s location of Auroa. While the cinematic does a lot to get Ghost Recon die-hards excited it doesn’t provide them with an ounce of gameplay footage like what we got last month when it was announced.
The second trailer, however, does give fans a new look at some gameplay. While it may not provide your standard vertical footage it still gives us a look at some of Breakpoint‘s improved stealth takedowns which are definitely going to come in handy since the game is looking to push players to be more tactical in how they engage their targets.
After the videos were showcased, Bernthal and the game’s community manager Laura Cordrey took to the stage to discuss the game and some of its new features.
Cordrey went ahead and addressed one of the criticisms of Breakpoint, which was the game’s absence of AI teammates in its solo mode. She stated that after taking in all of the community feedback the development team has decided to bring back the AI teammates that were first introduced in Ghost Recon Wildlands.
Cordrey also unveiled a new community tool called Delta Company. With Delta Company, players will be to “express and share their passion” for Ghost Recon. Players will be able to engage in direct discussions with community developers, share cosplays, fan art, and so much more.
The showcase for Breakpoint also alluded to Terminator: Dark Fate having a presence in the game at some point, similar to Gears of War 5 which is set to release this September.
Players who are looking forward to the game can sign up for the beta, which will launch on September 5th, 2019. Those who pre-order Ghost Recon Breakpoint will gain instant access to the beta once it goes live.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint is scheduled to release on October 4th, 2019 on the Playstation 4, PC, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
