Announced this morning, after 7 seasons, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will be coming to an end.  Posted before the San Diego Comic-Con Panel by the official Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Twitter they announced the show was indeed coming to an end after its next season stating

“Next summer’s season 7 will be the last for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Thanks to our fans for allowing us to be the longest-running Marvel TV series to date.”  The seventh season is currently being filmed and is expected to premiere sometime in 2020.

Jeph Loeb the long-time Marvel television head honcho said to Deadline:

“When you know that’s what you’re doing, you can take greater risks of life and death.  Those kinds of decisions suddenly now are real on the table because you’re not playing how do we undo this when we get to the next season.  You’re playing that this is going to be the end of the story.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D premiered on September 24th, 2013 showing up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe just before and a few episodes after Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  Being on the air now for almost 7 years, resulting in 123 episodes by the end of Season 6.  It has not been confirmed but season 7 is expected to have 13 episodes, as many episodes as the 6th season had ended in a 136 episode run for the entire run of the show.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is produced by Jeph Loeb, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen and stars Clark Gregg (as Phil Coulson) Ming-Na Wen( as Melinda May), Chloe Bennet (as Daisy ‘Skye’ Johnson), Ian de Caestecker ( as Leo Fit) , Elizabeth Henstridge (as Jemma Simmons), and Henry Simmons (as Alphonso ‘Mack’ Mackenzie).

Are you sad about seeing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D go, or are happy that the show is getting a planned ending? Either way it’ll be bitter sweet seeing the stories of our favorite Agents coming to an end, when the show ends in 2020.
