Doom Patrol has been renewed for a second season.

During the DC Universe panel at San Diego Comic Con, showrunner Jeremy Carver and star Diane Guerrero took to the stage to announce the series renewal.

On top of the renewal, Carver and Guerrero had confirmed that the series will be available for streaming on HBO Max when the service goes live in early 2020. The series will air simultaneously on the DC Universe streaming service and HBO Max, with season 1 releasing on HBO Max in 2020. Season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in 2020.

Fandomwire previously reported last year that Warner Bros. Television executives were so happy with the way audiences received the characters on the fourth episode of Titans season one that they renewed it. The freshman season of Doom Patrol currently has a 95% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

While WarnerMedia hasn’t officially confirmed it is possible that Doom Patrol will not be the only DC Universe series that could be shared with HBO Max. Industry analysts have previously expressed their skepticism about the success of the US-exclusive DC Universe streaming service and whether it would be viable for WarnerMedia to continue running it. They have suggested that the company is more likely to spend more of their resources on HBO Max, which will have a wider array of content and potential for a global release.

Doom Patrol is available for streaming on the DC Universe streaming service.

Doom Patrol is a reimagining of one of DC’s strangest group of outcast Super Heroes which includes: Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor/Negative Man, Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele/Robotman, April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Joivan Wade as Victor Stone/Cyborg and Timothy Dalton as Dr. Niles Caulder/The Chief. Here’s the synopsis:

“Doom Patrol will find the reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.”
