After 31 years of The Simpsons, they are finally going to reach the 666th episode of the long-running show.  October 20th will mark the episode landmark with a very fitting new Tree House of Horror, which will cover spooky parodies such as Stranger Things, The Shape of Water and a segment covering what looks like a Freaky Friday situation with Homer and Mr.Teeny.

Although this being the 31st season of The Simpsons, this marks only the 30th episode of Tree House of Horror.  The first installment of the spooky series of episodes didn’t premiere until its second season airing on October 25th, 1990.  Past episodes have parodied such pop culture stories such as The Shining, Avatar and Harry Potter all with an added twist of Simpsons horror.

Al Jean (the producer of The Simpsons) announced, in 2018, that the upcoming season would feature the 666th episode and that the episode would have to be a Tree House of Horror episode.  Jokingly when announced Jean commented by saying  Tree House of Horror XXX will coincidentally be Episode 666, as we planned it in 1989”.

The Simpsons was created by Matt Groening, which initially started out as a short on the Tracy Ullman Show back on April 5th, 1987.  The show is produced by James L. Brooks, Sam Simon, and Al Jean, in association with Gracie Films and 20th Century Fox.

The show stars the voices of such talent as Dan Castellaneta (Homer Simpsons), Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpsons, Nelson Muntz) Julie Kavner (Marge Simpson) and Yeardley Smith (Lisa Simpson). The Simpsons will be celebrating their 31st season premiere on Septemeber 29th 2019 with the episode  “The Incredible Lightness of Being a Baby” along with their upcoming Tree House of Horror episode which is currently slated for October 20th. 2019
