It seems everyone wants to return for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jaimie Alexander has stated her interest in being part of the fourth instalment of the Thor franchise Thor: Love and Thunder.
Alexander, who portrayed the Asgardian warrior Lady Sif in a supporting role for the 2009 movie Thor and its 2013 sequel Thor: The Dark World, as well as two guest appearances on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in 2014 and 2015.
However, with no appearance in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok or any mention of the character during the Infinity War crisis, fans have long suspected that Lady Sif has simply been faded out to make way for both Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and now Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor.
In actuality, Jaimie Alexander could not return to film Thor: Ragnarok due to scheduling conflicts with her leading role in the NBC crime drama series Blindspot, which recently wrapped up its fourth season while also commissioning a fifth and final season.
But now it seems the Sif actress is fighting to return to the role and take the position of Valkyrie’s new queen as Tessa Thompson openly stated at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that “as the new king, she needs to find a queen”, with Alexander responding to a fan suggestion that Sif become that queen.
Since the confirmation that Valkyrie will become the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first openly LGBT superhero, there have been several rumours as to who the new king of New Asgard’s queen will be.
While some fans speculating that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will make a surprise appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder confirming the fan-ship that began with Avengers: Endgame, other candidates from the comics have been Moondragon, Destiny, Phyla-Vell and Angela.
Another candidate to become Valkyrie’s queen is the new Mighty Thor herself Jane Foster portrayed by returning actress Natalie Portman. No confirmation has been made to this rumour.
While no full cast has been stated for the upcoming final Phase Four movie, the three confirmed cast members so far are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster/Mighty Thor.
Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled for release on November 5, 2021.
