New Mutants remove all ties to Fox and Marvel

Marvel Studios has been the powerhouse of superheroes which has introduced quite iconic comic characters that have been highly appreciated by fans. However, not every character was entitled to be introduced to the franchise but not anymore since Disney now owns 21st Century Fox.

Now that their merger has been completed, Disney got the rights to the X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic 4 films which means they are a new addition to the Marvel franchise. However, a recent rumor regarding The New Mutants is making headlines.

The superhero horror film, The New Mutants has been creating a buzz for quite a while and a new rumor has surfaced claiming that Marvel has removed all references to Fox’s X-Men universe. While it remains a mystery as to what has been chopped off since the movie has been in the making before the merger happened with major delays. 

It has been reported that the story is “set within a secret facility that experiments on mutants and the main character (Blu Hunt’s Danielle Moonstar) doesn’t know she is a mutant or the meaning of the word (mutant). Moonstar is brought to the facility after an attack by Demon Bear.”

Given the theory, they are rumoredly exploring, it means that the characters would not know that they are mutants or their possible connection with the Fox’s X-Men franchise. As for why it happened, one of the reasons hints,

“In case Kevin Feige decides later he wants to bring The New Mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

It makes sense since Marvel Studios President can still explore the characters in MCU with much freedom to incorporate them in whatever fits the franchise. The report comes shortly after the test screenings of the film which were held recently got a positive response even though it was unable to impress Disney. 

What We Know of The New Mutants So Far?

The Josh Boone-directed superhero horror flick stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga, and Blu Hunt who are held in a secret facility fighting to save themselves. The previous synopsis stated, 

“Held in a secret facility against their will, five new mutants have to battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past. They aren’t out to save the world — they’re just trying to save themselves.”

The film was initially shot in 2017 with a release date of April 13, 2018. However, re-shoots were planned to add a more scary element since it was what the director originally intended. Fox eventually agreed leading to further delays with the filming continued to re-schedule.
