Sylvester Stallone Was Punched Brutally

Sylvester Stallone did not expect to be in the hospital while he was in the midst of filming Rocky IV. The movie was one which he was highly looking forward to and one scene in particular got him in deep trouble. It is not uncommon for actors to get hurt on set while filming their own stunts. However, it is still a matter of concern if these injuries might lead an actor to the hospital.

“I must break you.”

Dolph Lundgren and Stallone were going up against each other in the rink and one punch from the former slammed the Expendables star’s heart right on his breastbone. This led his heart to swell up and he was immediately rushed to the hospital.

“This was back in the day when you didn’t have CGI, so everything you did had to be in-camera. You wanted a good hit, you had to make it look good in-camera. And if you wanted blood to come out of your mouth, you had to actually put it in your mouth and spit it out as you got hit.”

The actor could have very easily lost his life at that moment. Lundgren even acknowledged that the lack of CQI at that time was very much responsible for the lack of freedom body doubles could provide.

Dolph Lundgren Had Bad Blood With Carl Weathers

This was not the first time Dolph Lundgren hit someone while he was filming. Carl Weathers was not as fond of the actor either. Whether he was killed in the movie or not, he was not okay with him hitting Weathers on set. He also acknowledged how aggressive Lundgren could get while in the rink and did not like it.

“But I’d worked out with Sly for five months before the picture. So I knew him pretty well. And I was a fighter, a karate champion from Europe and I think when Carl showed up, he was like, ‘I’m gonna have to fight this guy? He seems like he’s the real thing.’ I didn’t dislike anybody on that set but I think he got a little scared of me.”

Lundgren on the other hand, was more than happy with the actor and was actually quite fond of him. Although he believed, Weathers to be scared of him.
