Marvel Studios shattered box office records with their idea of The Avengers, as the MCU’s biggest superheroes joined hands to stop Thanos from realizing his nefarious vision of wiping out half of all life at every level.
The DCEU, who have been playing catch up with the MCU the entire time, also brought their own squad of superheroes, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, on the big screen during the same time. Like Avengers, the DCEU’s top heroes also collaborate to battle a great threat to the universe, Steppenwolf.
When it comes to box office numbers, Snyder’s franchise appears very weak in front of The Avengers series. Interestingly, the same case could be made with regard to their respective powers, as many Avengers and villains in the MCU can make Snyder’s superheroes sweat on their day.
Doctor Strange
The Justice League boasts heavy hitters like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman among others, which might terrify the most formidable of opponents in a face-to-face battle. However, not every battle is about sheer strength, especially when one is up against Doctor Strange, who can leave anyone puzzled by conjuring myriad spells.
The master of magic is adept at using his spells to create shields and barriers, which have the potential to take on Superman’s immense strength. By opening portals, he can also separate the League by sending some of them into space. The man who has the potential to wreak havoc in multiple universes is unlikely to be ever controlled by Batman and company.
And once the Sorcerer Supreme starts manipulating time with the help of Time Stone, it’s game over for them.
Carol Danvers
When the idea of bringing the MCU’s first female lead to the big screen was floated, not many fans expected Captain Marvel to do well. However, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) proved them wrong and the stand-alone movie crossed the $1 billion mark.
Similarly, it’d be naïve for the League to underestimate Carol if they even find themselves on her wrong side. Capable of absorbing and redirecting massive amounts of energy in her binary form, she has the potential to overcome the powers of DC stars and unleash the projected strength accordingly. But it’s all about how well she manifests her powers.
Ant-Man
As mentioned above, the best way to deal with the insurmountable strengths of Superman and Wonder Woman is to just not fight them on their own patch. Ant-Man is another Avenger who simply deals in a different realm to conventional superheroes thanks to his ability to shrink to sub-microscopic size, as well as turn into a gigantic threat.
Zack Snyder‘s Justice League fans might think to pitch in Ryan Choi/Atom against Ant-Man because of their abilities to shrink, but even against him, Ant-Man can just change the realm to his advantage.
Most importantly, Ant-Man’s ability to communicate with ants and harness their strength in numbers will prove to be a nightmare for not just Atom but any other League hero.
Loki
Call him a coward or genius, but we all know that the God of Mischief, is never going to take on DC’s squad straightforwardly, and would instead use his bag of tricks to leave the likes of Superman scratching their heads. On most occasions, they won’t even understand what has hit them.
Batman, who’s a brilliant strategist, is likely to deal with Loki’s moves better and in a more composed manner, but with a little bit of luck, one can’t rule out anything past the enigmatic Marvel villain.
Kang The Conqueror
The way Marvel think tanks are building up Jonathan Majors’s character and introducing fans to his powers in the new phase, it seems he’s going to end up making the late supervillain Thanos seem like an easy guy to deal with (which isn’t the case, just ask Iron Man’s fans).
This might get repetitive. But again, the best way to beat the League is not to allow them to use their immense strengths, especially in the case of Kang, who doesn’t have any powers of his own (albeit his epic armor makes him virtually invincible). What makes Kang a conqueror of multiple worlds is his mastery to control time and space at his will.
A master physicist and a gifted military strategist, Kang would make Batman, who’s perhaps the smartest League member, seem a doofus in the battle of brains.
Scarlet Witch
The Lady in Red is a complex character. Despite playing the part of villain frequently in the MCU, she has also shown signs of moving to the right side at times. Her strength, which consists of cosmic, mutant, and magical powers, are equally complex and often make her enemies drop like flies (Just look at how she dealt with Black Bolt, who’s considered one of the most powerful Marvel figures in Doctor Strange 2).
In particular, Wanda Maximoff boasts two powers that, when realized to their full potential, can prove to be a nightmare for any team, including the League. First is her ability to use necromancy to resurrect individuals would make things tenfold more difficult for the League. And if that doesn’t work, the power to script events in accordance with her vision makes any kind of attack pointless. Best for Snyder’s boys to just not mess with her.
