An event even bigger and grand than Avengers: Endgame saga, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for Secret Wars. One of the most iconic and epic events in the history of Marvel comics, Marvel Studios is finally bringing the event to the big screen in the upcoming Avengers 6, with the groundwork laid through Avengers 5.

Starring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, one of the most celebrated antagonists of the Marvel-verse, Downey’s diabolical character will have lots to prove if he wants to be as impactful as his comic book counterpart. And if we know the MCU and the comic book events of Secret Wars, Doom will have to kill to prove his might as a formidable adversary.

Hence, to declare himself as the next big baddie that the many heroes of the MCU will have to face, here are three possible MCU heroes that can die at the hands of Doctor Doom:

1. Doctor Strange

Portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Strange is a prime candidate for a dramatic showdown with Robert Downey Jr.‘s Iron Man. The two characters have often fought as well as teamed in the Marvel comics several times, Doctor Strange is similar to Doom when it comes to their mystical abilities.

Both Doom and Strange have somewhat similar capabilities and are well-versed in both the knowledge of science and sorcery. Thus, taking down a sorcerer who so far has been trying to keep his reality alive will be an epic event to kick-start Secret Wars. Furthermore, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the ending featured Strange going over to a new reality to stop excursions from taking place. Marvel Studios can possibly use this to introduce Downey’s formidable new Marvel character and further make it more impactful by killing off an integral MCU character.

2. Wolverine

Hugh Jackman just came back to the Marvel-verse through Deadpool & Wolverine. Having portrayed the clawed mutant for more than two decades now, the actor is already 55 years old and there is no saying how long he will be able to keep transforming into the muscle-bound hero. While it will certainly be exciting to see him become a regular part of the MCU slate, it doesn’t seem as much of a plausible idea.

So to give Jackman a potential departure from the role, Doom can possibly take on Wolverine in the Secret Wars event. What could be a powerful and emotional moment, can be further made impactful and more deserving of a goodbye if Wolverine meets his end similar to Downey’s Iron Man’s sacrificial death in Avengers: Endgame. Not only will honor Jackman’s legacy but will also denote the gravity of the threat Doctor Doom poses.

3. Wanda Maximoff

Portrayed by the incredible actress Elizabeth Olsen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wanda Maximoff is one of the most powerful characters in the MCU and Marvel comics. Having turned into more of a morally grey character lately, the Scarlet Witch’s death can be a pivotal moment in the Secret Wars storyline. But before such a feat can take place, the MCU is yet to confirm whether the character is alive or not after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Since the upcoming series, Agatha All Along’s trailer did not show the character dead, but only a presumed dead body, Wanda Maximoff might be still alive or Doctor Doom can just kill one of her many alternate reality versions to show off his powers. And if the sacred timeline’s Scarlet Witch is alive, Marvel Studios can give her a good character arc by featuring her going against Doctor Doom, only to lose her life and create a power vacuum that Doom could exploit.
