Helldivers 2 features a wide variety of weapons that can be used to take down Terminids and Automatons but not every weapon/Stratagem is useful. In a recent Reddit post, the Helldivers 2 community has managed to list out the worst weapons/Stratagems of the game, and three particular names are often repeated: Rocket Sentry, Mortar Sentry, and R-36 Eruptor.
It is no secret that the assault rifles in the game are underpowered and since Arrowhead CEO, Johan Pilestedt, directly acknowledged this issue, players are hopeful that they will be blessed with a good assault rifle soon. Players definitely need some fresh weapons at this point as The Second Galactic War has escalated due to a failed Major Order.
Helldivers 2 players are not huge fans of these 3 firearms in the game
Recently, a Reddit post went viral on the r/Helldivers2 subreddit which asked players to talk about the worst Helldivers 2 weapons/Stratagems. Many players listed out various weapons and Stratagems but there were three weapons/Stratagems that were common in most of the replies: Rocket Sentry, Mortar Sentry, and R-36 Eruptor.
The Rocket Sentry is known for being slow, making it useless against fast-paced enemies, however, for heavy units, it is effective. The Mortar Sentry has received hate on multiple occasions primarily because of how many times it has caused team-killing in the game, especially during Terminid battles. Instead of the Mortar Sentry, players can pick some other Stratagem that would actually wipe out enemies and not teammates. R-36 Eruptor’s low ammo capacity, slow handling, and low rate of fire have ruined its reputation in the community.
Johan Pilestedt agrees that assault rifles in Helldivers 2 are weak
It is quite strange that the starting weapon in the game, the AR-23 Liberator, remains the best assault rifle in the game since the rest of them are underpowered. In a recent interaction with a player on X, Johan Pilestedt, Arrowhead’s CEO, acknowledged this problem. He wrote,
Agree on Assault Rifles. Their representation has become diluted. It’s always strange in games where rifles are seen as pea shooters rather than the 2k J spitters that they are.
A weapon that was added recently, the PLAS-101 Purifier, has also been a major let-down for the fans. As the game becomes more challenging, Arrowhead needs to release powerful, balanced weapons. With The Second Galactic War being triggered, players will need better weapons and Stratagems. For now, players are making the best out of a grenade glitch that allows them to use 4.2 billion grenades.
